I have read many posts here and feel this is a great place to come to get some positive feedback. I am a stay at home mom of 3. I used to be a school social worker took time off to stay home with my kids. I am now deciding to go back to school to be a RN. I am not sure if I am crazy or what. I am so frustrated at the college I am trying to take my prerequistes at. It is San Antonio College. I have a a bachelors in science in social work. You would think that would mean something. I need 3 classes and to take the TEAS. I need Microbiology and Anatomy and Physiology 1 and 2. I think they are going to make me take a chemistry class and math class even though I have already taken them. I just feel like I keep getting roadblocks in my way. I have always wanted to be a nurse. I know it is not going to be easy but this part should not be so difficult should it.
Thank you in advance for any feedback you can give me. My husband is great and is really helping.
Thank you.

Don't feel bad about repeating courses. Despite a chemistry heavy career, I was forced to take an intro to chemistry course before I could take a college level chemistry course (that I had already taken, but the class was too old). End of the day; I was no worse for the wear and had I needed it I would have had a GPA booster (luckily I maintained a 4.0, so I didn't need that gboost).
The roadblocks and hoops and red tape act as a filter to keep out the students that are not 100% dedicated to nursing. Roll with the punches and keep your GPA and sprits high.

I can definitely imagine your frustration considering they are classes that you've already taken. I would not be thrilled about having to retake any courses either. At my college, if the classes you took are five years or older, you have to retake those courses. I'm not 100% positive if it's that way in every college or not. I know it is a pain, but if you do end up having to retake those, it may be for the best, because you could freshen up on it all before you take part in the actual Nursing Program. :) It's almost like everywhere you go, there's some kind of red tape or something to hold you back and keep you from progressing as fast as you feel you should, especially when you've already completed courses they are asking you to retake. Keep your head up and I wish you the best of luck!

don't feel bad, I have to retake all of my science classes over again because they are older than 5yrs. I feel your pain, but the way I look at it, this time I can dedicate all of my time to these classes and hope to achieve a higher gpa so I can be accepted

Thats just the way it is. I had to retake A&P 1. It was too old. I was miffed about it at first since it would delay the time it took to get in the program but ya know what? I had a B in it the first time I took it and got an A with the repeat so it worked out for the best. Just suck it up and do it again. Trust me the time goes by quickly! After next week's final exam, I will be done with my first year of nursing school. Graduate in May. It seems like just yesterday that I was in that office miffed about taking A&P again!
