Need online math credit

Published

I need to take an online intermediate algebra class. Just before graduation my school told me my prereq math credits were not enough. They did let me participate in the pinning but they will not send my name into sit for the NCLEX until I pass intermediate algebra! I need to find an online class to take that is an accelerated course so I can sit for the boards!!!! Please help! Does anyone know an online school that could work for me?

That stinks that you didn't have advance warning. University of Phoenix is expensive but the courses are only 5 weeks long and the enrollment process for individual courses is fast. Good luck to you!

Rio Salado. You can enroll for a class starting next monday and the courses say 8 or 16 weeks, but as soon as you finish the class work the teachers submit the grades. It's all very quick. I finished an economics class in 2 weeks... and I'm working on another right now.

College of Southern Nevada, they aren't as flexible but if you act fast you can get in on one of their classes. Their semester started Monday, but some teachers are still letting students in classes.

Clep- College Algebra. Get a book and review and you can take it asap. Depending on how long ago your math class was and how much you remember depends on how much you will need to prepare.

Edukan, I have never looked at their courses, but I've seen lots of people use them on this board and I will use them for my Spanish courses ( I have to take a foreign language for my other major)

Good luck on getting it all done quick.

Best Wishes

Wait a minute.. you finished a full-semester of an Econ class in 2 weeks? How is that possible?? Do they have Micro? LOL

I did finish a whole semester of Macroeconomics in two weeks.

The courses have dates where things are do, but you are free to work ahead. I "read" about two chapters a day and ended up with a B. I had problems with understanding the questions for the multiple choice. I got perfect scores on all of the essay questions. I suck at APA formatting, but I seemed to do well enough to get done. They do have microbiology offered in 16 and 8 week formats. I have not tried the science courses yet. I believe with micro you have to have the midterm and final proctored so it might take a bit longer to arrange.

I just finished College Algebra thru Straighterline today (took a week) and am having my scores transcripted thru Fort Hayes State University. It cost me $99+39 and Fort Hayes lists the credit just as I would have taken it direct thru them for a $30 fee. YOu could ask if they would accept a College Algebra class thru FHSU and go that route.

There are more than five options to obtaining quick college credit in college-level math:

1. Straighterline.com: they offer self-paced courses that can be completed in a week if you are really strong at math. Their offerings include College Algebra, Statistics, Precalculus, and General Calculus. You will need to have the course transcribed at a partner college in order to receive 3 semester hours worth of college credit for the class. Fort Hays State University charges a $30 application fee for transcribing the class onto an official transcript.

2. ALEKS.com: for $20 per month, you can enroll in their intermediate algebra course. As soon as you score 70% or greater on one of their assessments, you can have the course transcribed on an ACE transcript that qualifies for 3 semester hours worth of college credit in mathematics. ALEKS also offers college algebra, statistics, and other interesting offerings that qualify for ACE-approved college credit upon completion.

3. CLEP exams: for about $80, you can test out of college-level math and receive 3 semester hours worth of college credit that is accepted at thousands of colleges and universities.

4. CALCampus: they offer several accredited, self-paced college-level math courses.

5. Independent Study in Idaho: they offer online and print-based college-level math courses that are reasonably-priced at about $100 per credit.

If anyone is interested in cheap college credits to satisfy a degree requirement, I can surely offer advice. In fact, I am looking to complete as many cheap college courses as possible without setting foot in another classroom due to time constraints.

WOW you are a wealth of information!! Do you happen to know of any micro classes or API that are quick to get over with maybe 4-6 weeks and you don't have to search for proctor..so completely online??

I would first look at your local community colleges. Most colleges offer online courses and you will more than likely have less expense by going through one of these schools, preferably the school you attended for nursing school.

Straighterline is going to offer an online A&P I and A&P II with labs sometime this year. It will be self-paced, meaning you can finish in a few weeks or a few months.

What does it mean to have a course transcribed? I'm looking for an "easy" statistics course with an emphasis on inferential stats...want to take it soon to get it behind my but need to make sure I can get credit for it/transfer. Thanks for explaining.
