Hey, anyone know if Sloane-Kettering -- 53rd Street--is functioning? Have personal / family issues that require us to be there tomorrow--VERY important appointment for relative's new dx CA case-- and at this point don't know even HOW to get there (bridges/trains/subways closed). Am coming from about 90 miles upstate.
Anyone know when the major forms of travel will be open....tomorrow...?
Can anyone shed some light?
thanks for links.....actually found useful info at abc/accuweather nyc site. The willis ave bridge, according to the site, opened about an hour ago. Tappan Zee opened two hours ago.
Been back and forth between SIL and DH in planning who is going where and when, doing what and when. Radiology opening at two pm; we're getting cd's to bring to MSK then. Have everything else faxed now.
We're going!! :)

You do be one determined lady! That's MY Girl!
Wishing you all the best and hope all goes well! Drive carefully and leave extra time in case traffic is sort of snarled up.
All this assisting has made me sleepy, think will take a nap as there isn't much else to do ATM.

RNRAC: thank you for your kindness....we've mapped out the route, with dh driving them partway down and sil taking them the rest of the way into the city; if the facility is open (and is expected to be) they'll BE there!
We're all worried, of course, but well-wishers really DO help.....so thank you :)
I still would call MSK ...they will know the best, and most current routes open.My prayers for your FIL.....((HUGS))
We'll wait until morning to call--I'm sure they're inundated with more urgent problems just now and I don't want to tie up a line or a staffer. But we'll call in the AM to confirm everything is still a go :)
Not sure if you know the area but East 53rd Street and Third Avenue is mid-town east in Manhattan with MSK right across the street from the CitiCorp building. It's metered parking on the avenues if you can find any and or the City hasn't suspended it because of the storm, and often parking is hard to find on any of the streets. There are of course plenty of garages and some may offer discounts to patients and staff of MSK.
East 53rd Street is a one way street going westbound. So if you come down Second Avenue you'll be making a right turn onto 53rd (think I've got that right), then up two blocks or so to MSK. Don't know if you plan to drop off the "patient" and some family whilst the driver seeks out parking then joins you later or what.
If you are planning on going down Second Avenue leave plenty of time. Traffic is normally bad during the morning/daytime but with the construction of the Second Avenue Subway the place resembles a war zone at times. Most of that is between East 96th Street down to East 61st Street though.

Far as one can see neither the Third Avenue or Willis Bridges are closed, but please don't take my word before setting out.
The East River Bridges (Brooklyn, Manhttan and Williamsburg) have just been reopened. One assumes even if the Third and Willis Avenue bridges are closed now they should be open by tomorrow unless they sustained some sort of damage.
