Need interview help!!! Northeastern Direct Entry

Published

has anyone interviewed at northeastern for the direct-entry program? i have an interview this saturday and i don't know what to expect- any advice?

i got into regis and should hear from umass in a few weeks. i also applied to simmons. my biggest concern (besides getting in) are the student loans i'll have to face when i graduate. if anyone has been through one of these programs, is there anything you can tell me about the strength of the programs in comparison to their cost!?

thanks!:paw:

This annoys me. NEU is losing great, qualified candidates who are sending in deposits to other schools!

Specializes in Pediatrics.

Interesting... Well good to know we aren't all down right rejected, but NEU should really get on that considering that a lot of their applicants seem to be accepting elsewhere since they haven't heard from NEU...

I wonder if they will forego interviewing everyone because they just have too many applicants!

I still have yet to hear anyone ever being rejected from NEU or MGHIHP. I suppose we are all qualified or wouldn't have applied and now be so stressed about decisions. But how long is the wait list and how long is the wait??

I don't like it either. I don't understand it. How are they accepting some if they haven't even read all the applications? I understand they probably want a certain mix of students but how do they even know what that is if they don't have a good picture of the applicant pool?

If there are similar applications and they read one in November and the other in March. They already accepted the person in November so now is the March applicant not accepted?

Strange!

I've been accepted to MGH, Yale, BC, Columbia and got an interview at Duke but passed it up...I still have yet to hear from NEU and they have not responded to any of my calls/emails...I can pretty much say I am definately not considering it even if I do get in...it kinda makes me mad since I paid for the application but whatever..

ive had a completely different experience with NEU. they get back to me just as quick as other schools and i found out about my admission in december oddly enough. They must be getting a ton of calls/emails. Also, i think it seems like most people get into these programs (in response to a comment above) bc we are on a website for crazy applicants (myself included) who really care about our applications/programs!

Why would you wait for NEU if you got into Yale, MGH, or BC? That doesn't make any sense, especially since most of those schools have decision deadlines this and next week.

I have to agree with jnd1213 about the lack rejections on this site. I have definitely seen some rejections to various schools, but they may not have been for the same programs we are all applying for... or even from the same year for that matter. But in general, I probably would not rush to this website to post my rejections. I didn't get in to BC (it wasn't my top choice, but it still sucked a little) and I didn't write anything about it until I found out I got in to MGH. So I'm sure there are those not on the waitlists on this site... they just may not want to share. And, we are all a crazy bunch for spending so much time on this site! Luckily I have an awesome boss who doesn't really care as long as I get my work done :)

Oh, and I have had a very hard time getting anyone on the phone from NEU. I'm just going to wait it out I guess, must be due to the number of applications...

well the co-op was really appealing to me and I had a bunch of friends who did the BSN program and my aunt did the masters portion and they all said that NEU was absolutely superb. Its known as a very clinical program that will really make you learn, so I mean I do consider it to be top notch along with MGH, BC, and Yale...i personally just had a bad experience, i've left a couple of messages and emails with no response and they never mentioned anything about the rolling acceptances which i think they should do. i havn't even gotten an email or anything saying that my application was completed or received...just my opinion, it means nothing really

i guess i just like to write and rant on these boards waaay too much...so i guess that does make me a crazy applicant haha :wink2:

and p.s. i didn't mean to come off cocky by saying i got accepting to schools, i was just venting and also making a point to other people who havn't heard anything that they aren't alone and that not hearing anything yet doesn't in and of itself mean rejection...if u know what i mean..

here i go again writing away...haha

I just checked (because I was curious) and the last email I have from NEU was on January 16th. It was confirming they had cashed my check for application payment. But come to think of it, I never had any emails from BC either other then the payment one, and that's where I did not get in, so maybe it is just their way of letting me down gently.

In other news, just got another email from MGH that my deposit was received. That was fast, I mailed it yesterday!

And, I did have an email from Simmons saying that my application "appeared to be complete" and that they'd send it for review if it was indeed complete. So I'm taking that to mean it was complete (hopefully!!)

I guess my biggest problem when it comes to lack of communication is that email is very easy to use, and because our generation checks email compulsively (!!!) we notice when things are missing. However, that does not actually mean that there is lack of communication between us and schools and it does not take into consideration that perhaps people are just too busy to email...

I am on this site a lot too and luckily I also have a boss who doesn't mind what I do, as long as I get my work done. And I work in healthcare btw. I feel like I am a strong applicant and hope being wait-listed at MGHIHP isn't so horrible, but will soon be better!! As for NEU and Simmons, they are taking their time (minus NEU that has accepted some). Who knows exactly what the process is as we all have such different experiences...the main thing that is great is we all are trying so hard to get into school to begin a lifelong career of a wonderful job that is in high demand worldwide!! We will all get there if we keep trying! And what is meant to be will be so as long as we keep trying and eventually get into one of these schools, we are all on a great path and have realistic goals insight!
