Need help from a nurse who graduated within last three years

Nursing Students Student Assist

Published

Hi everybody. I'm a nursing student in my final semester. We have been given an assignment to interview at least four nurses who have worked from three months to three years. I have found three people to interview, but am in need of a fourth who has worked at least 18 months but less than three years. I have exhausted all of my resources and this is a last resort so I'm really hoping someone on here will be willing to help me out. I would greatly appreciate anyone who is able to help!

I need to know about your socialization to working as a nurse. Did you experience any problems transitioning from being a student to being a nurse? Do you have any advice on how to successfully and smoothly complete this transition for someone who is about to graduate? Etc. I also need to know when you graduated.

Thank you in advance!

And so no one thinks I'm trying to be lazy because I know how questions like this usually get responded to, this is truly a last resort thing. This is our first true week of school and clinicals were cancelled this week because school (along with most of the town) was shut down due to bad driving conditions and road closures. I'm sure I would have been able to find people to interview at the hospital had I been able to go. This was just not a good week for this assignment!

I can't believe that there's nobody in the facilities where you do your clinicals that fits that description. You are doing clinicals, right? Sure, you might have to go see them on nights, or weekends, or first thing in the morning when they're getting off work. Part of the experience that your faculty wants you to have, and their experience will teach you something.

We haven't got to do clinicals yet. That is why I am asking on here. I guess you did not see my previous comment. This semester started last Thursday and on Friday and again this week school was shut down and everyone was advised to stay off the roads due to two separate "ice storms". I live in an area where this is very rare (the last time this happened I was in elementary school) and we are not equipped to handle this so it is unsafe to drive on the roads under those conditions.

Did you ask any of the three that you already secured for interviews?

No. I asked one, but she did not know of anyone who met the time period I needed. My mom thought she could find someone else; however, she did not. She is pretty much my only connection to nurses since we have not yet started clinicals this semester and I do not personally know recent graduate nurses. Unfortunately, she works in an area that is not the place to find new grads. Like I said, this was a last ditch effort to legitimately answer this. There is no other way for me to find any other people, as it is due tomorrow morning. I was just taking a shot on here. I do not need suggestions on how to find anyone else as there is no time for that. Trust me, I have tried everything I can. I was just hoping someone who met the criteria and was willing to help me out would see this. Thank you for trying to help.

We didn't see your other post because it was somewhere else (Esme has just merged your two threads, as noted). Sorry we couldn't be responsive more timely, but even if you haven't started clinicals you can still go to the hospital where you will do them later. Perhaps your faculty will cut you some slack due to the ice storms, too. Good luck!

Hi I live in Louisiana so I understand what you mean. I actually had to sleep at the hospital the night before to make it for my shift the following morning. I don't know if I'd be of any help but I'm a recent LPN graduate. Graduated in dec 2012 and have been working since jan 2013 but I've also been in school still.

Thanks guys! I ended up finding someone! Someone I knew from a few years backs finally responded to my Facebook message and called me. And jess, Louisiana weather just sucks doesn't it? It's freezing (literally) one day and the next I can wear short sleeves. It's getting old fast this year.

I'm so glad it worked out for you!
