7:30 meds? Who is responsible for giving?
Wow subsippi thankfully our pharmacy is not rude like that. But they might be kind of snippy if we start asking them to change that many med times.

7:30 meds? Who is responsible for giving?
We have soo many meds scheduled for 0730. The past two days every single one of my patients have had 0730 meds so I've had to make a full med pass at 0630 instead of giving report which needless to say has put me clocking out late. We have addressed this with pharmacy who says it is not safe due to the breakfast thing but she doesn't care. They honestly should just schedule them for 800 because breakfast is not even on the floor until that time. The rest of the hospital only does 0700 meds. A lot of the nurses on my floor just give them early but I don't feel comfortable doing that.

farawyn. Then 0730 does not apply to you. I clearly said incoming shift is required to be there at 0630. It would be the equivalent of whatever is 30 minutes after your shift ends

7:30 meds? Who is responsible for giving?
Proud nurse-you arrive to work at 1900 vs our 1830? If that's the case, do you give 800 meds before you leave?
-
7:30 meds? Who is responsible for giving?
So you arrive to work at 1900 vs our 1830? Do you give 800 meds then since from what I'm gathering that would be equivalent to our 730 meds?

Are care plans valuable?
Absolute waste of time IMO

7:30 meds? Who is responsible for giving?
My nurse manager is constantly coming up with new rules. One of the latest ones is we must give 730 meds. My shift is from 7p-7a. We are required to be on the floor by 630 to give report. Since we cannot give the 730 meds until 630 we are scrambling to give the meds and then give report and be out by 730. If we clock out late too many times, we can get in trouble. I feel like this not only stresses us out, but it is not safe because not only are we rushing but most meds are scheduled at 730 because they are to be given with breakfast. I just want to know is this common practice or are we the only ones required to give meds due after the end of our shift?

Holy SATA!
I took mine on Tuesday and had a ton of SATA and a few ordering ones. It shut off at 75. I felt like I bombed it when I got done, but I passed! Relax. If you're getting the good pop up, you most likely passed!

Preventing spider veins?
Okay so I'm in my last semester of Nursing school and starting a job as an extern so between clinicals and work this semester, I will be on my feet a lot! My mom has been a nurse for almost 30 years and has had varicose veins BAD for as long as I can remember. I know it sounds horrible, but every time I see her legs, I get freaked out. I don't want to not be able to wear shorts by the time I'm thirty! I've been thinking about getting some compression hose to start wearing now to prevent this from happening. I've searched on here, but I've read a lot of different opinions. I just have a few questions for those of you who wear them? Are they uncomfortable or do they fall down and bother you? Do you really need the actual hose or are knee high socks just as good? What brands are good and where do you find them? While looking them up on the Internet, I've seen different numbers like 15-20, etc. What kind do I need? Will starting now make a difference or do I not need them until I'm a little older (I'm 22)? And most importantly, does this actually help prevent spider veins or am I just destined to get them no matter what?

Need help from a nurse who graduated within last three years
Thanks guys! I ended up finding someone! Someone I knew from a few years backs finally responded to my Facebook message and called me. And jess, Louisiana weather just sucks doesn't it? It's freezing (literally) one day and the next I can wear short sleeves. It's getting old fast this year.

No. I asked one, but she did not know of anyone who met the time period I needed. My mom thought she could find someone else; however, she did not. She is pretty much my only connection to nurses since we have not yet started clinicals this semester and I do not personally know recent graduate nurses. Unfortunately, she works in an area that is not the place to find new grads. Like I said, this was a last ditch effort to legitimately answer this. There is no other way for me to find any other people, as it is due tomorrow morning. I was just taking a shot on here. I do not need suggestions on how to find anyone else as there is no time for that. Trust me, I have tried everything I can. I was just hoping someone who met the criteria and was willing to help me out would see this. Thank you for trying to help.

We haven't got to do clinicals yet. That is why I am asking on here. I guess you did not see my previous comment. This semester started last Thursday and on Friday and again this week school was shut down and everyone was advised to stay off the roads due to two separate "ice storms". I live in an area where this is very rare (the last time this happened I was in elementary school) and we are not equipped to handle this so it is unsafe to drive on the roads under those conditions.

And so no one thinks I'm trying to be lazy because I know how questions like this usually get responded to, this is truly a last resort thing. This is our first true week of school and clinicals were cancelled this week because school (along with most of the town) was shut down due to bad driving conditions and road closures. I'm sure I would have been able to find people to interview at the hospital had I been able to go. This was just not a good week for this assignment!

Need help from a nurse who graduated within last three years
Hi everybody. I'm a nursing student in my final semester. We have been given an assignment to interview at least four nurses who have worked from three months to three years. I have found three people to interview, but am in need of a fourth who has worked at least 18 months but less than three years. I have exhausted all of my resources and this is a last resort so I'm really hoping someone on here will be willing to help me out. I would greatly appreciate anyone who is able to help! I need to know about your socialization to working as a nurse. Did you experience any problems transitioning from being a student to being a nurse? Do you have any advice on how to successfully and smoothly complete this transition for someone who is about to graduate? Etc. I also need to know when you graduated. Thank you in advance!
