Need help with Naming EKG Tele Strips ASAP!

Published

Hey everyone,

I'm a new grad studying for my Tele Exam! I need ANY advice if you're willing to share!! So I understand how to do the whole systematic approach to interpret a strip, but I have hard time naming the actual rhythm. I get so nervous!! If you've got any advice for me, I'd be so happy to hear from you on what works for you and what else I could try to make it easier or me to name a rhythm!! Thanks in advance!!!

Thank You MunoRN! :)

As far as the blocks just think of them as a deteriorating marriage. If the P wave is the wife and the QRS the husband normal sinus is P the shortly after QRS responds. 1st degree block Wife P fires off and there is a long delay before QRS hisband responds. 2nd degree type one is each time P fires off (makes a request) it takes longer and longer before QRS responds then finally ignoring P all together. 2nd degree type 2 the wife P has to speak (fire off) many times before QRS husband finally responds. And the big bad daddy third degree block there is absolutely no relationship between the P and QRS. each are marching to their own beat divorced. Beyond that just breath take your time strip can be very overwhelming. Just be sure to take time to march out the entire strip before answering! Good luck

What a great explanation!

What study material has your facility provided you with?

Just recalling my critical care course. It provided me with all I needed to learn the rhythms, and I could discuss any questions with my instructor.

Try the EKG book by Dale Dubin, it is excellent!
