Need help! Failed Nclex RN three times in florida

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Hi, everyone, I failed nclex three times in florida , according to Florida BON I have to take remedial expensive course , do clinicals again in order to retest again. I'm a mother of two toddlers and don't have money and time to do all that. I heard that i can take it in another state bur I don't know what are the requirements and what to do and have in order to take it out of state. Please help me If you know .. I'll appreciate it.

Thank You for your support:). We just have to keep studing and trying again. WE ARE NOT QUITTING UNTIL WE DEFEAT NCLEX ! NurseJoy in florida , unfortunately, if test takers don't pass nclex 3 times, have to take a remedial course , (expensive) with a certain amount of clinical hours. You can opt out by applying for license in another state like, Georgia, NJ, NY and some other states where you can take it until you pass. You just have to go to their BON websites to see the requirement and what to do.I hope this helps.

NJ requires remediation course after failing the NCLEX 3x regardless if you tested in NJ or another state

Still waiting for NY to get on the stick and not allow limitless retakes; there really is a good reason for a maximum number before remediation is required. SOMETHING is missing with repeated failures, and it's in the applicant's best interest to learn why they are not passing. Time for NYS, I think, to catch up with the rest of the country's progress on this! Then again, maybe they like the revenue from the stream of testers who have failed from other States...?

RNsRwe I totally understand and respect what you are saying. But, I know no one asked, so here is my 2 cents.....

I called the Florida Board of Nursing on 11-3-2014, and spoke with an MQA Representative who advised me that if you do not pass your Florida Board of Nursing Nclex in 3 attempts, you will be required to take a remediation course. BUT... if you decide, after your three attempts to go to another state and sit for the NCLEX there, you may, for a fee endorse back to Florida without taking a remediation course. He also went on to say "If you are a Licensed RN in another state, even if you have failed with us 3 times, why would we make you go through a remediation for a test in which you have already passed?"

I have been a Director of Nursing now for 4 years, and have hired many-a-nurses and I can tell you this: I have had Nurses take an NCLEX 7 times and yet they are some of my strongest. I have also hired RNs who have passed on their first time, and I have to re-think their position in my facility. So I guess what Im saying is just because the exam may be limitless in certain states, it doesnt negate the fact that the person, at some point during their testing journey, knew enough to pass and become licensed as an RN/LPN. Always remember the time when you first sat for boards, and how desperate you would have been if you hadnt passed.

Congrats AwesomeAmber and Best of Luck to upcoming testers. Its nice to know there are plenty of options for those who desire that piece of mind. God Bless you all.

If you've been a Director of Nursing for four years (I have to assume that this is allowed for an LPN in a prison? I've honestly never heard of an LPN as a DON) it's hard to imagine why you cannot pass the NCLEX-RN. Either you aren't understanding how the test works (again, weird, since you're an LPN and must have passed it once!) or are missing something vital that is not letting you pass this one. I don't know what the reason is, but clearly there's a problem somewhere!

At any rate, I wish you well in figuring out what that is, and getting past this.

RNsRwe ....sorry about that but I am an RN and have been for a little while now. Unfortunately, I joined this site in 2007 and decided to jump back on and this was my first post ever! lol. I was an LPN and am thankful to God for that experience, as I have now became an RN. Sorry for the misinformation. :) I hope you didnt take offense to what I was saying. If I came across a little harsh, then my apologies. But I just think we as Nurses, CNAs, Med techs...etc should be building eachother up and providing support for eachother.

And my rationale for calling the board is because my son is looking at his options with the NCLEX as we speak. So as a mom, of course I want him to know and understand all of his options. You have no idea of the things he reads then brings them to me as if I know the answers lol. The key is "Seek and Ye Shall Find." So I called the BON to get it from the horses mouth.

Happy Holidays everyone. :)

Ok, THIS makes a lot more sense! :D I had read your info about calling the BON and asking about remediation, etc as your NOT being an RN already...and since you had "nurse" in your user name, well...you get the reason for the confusion!

And of course I took no offense. Frankly I'm pretty blunt and people can either take the info with the good intentions that were offered, or.....not. I doubt I'd ever win a Nobel Prize for my writing :)

Anyway, good luck to your son, and hope it all turns out well for him!

Hello, inela! I too, have failed NCLEX 3 times in FL. I feel incompetent and so defeated. I have never wanted something so bad in my whole life. Don't feel discouraged, because you are not alone! This test is a *****, and is meant to trip people up. I've studied so hard each time, and now, I don't even know how to begin studying. Is it true clinical time is required for taking the test again in FL? Has anyone here taken the remediation and if so, did it help? I feel so lost. :( I know I'll be a great nurse, I just have to get over this hurdle.

You will be an AWESOME nurse. Hang in there, and NEVER give up.

awwww thanks. Believe it or not, most Nurses are pretty blunt. Go figure! It just tugs at my heart strings because I know what my son is up against so I try to be the Nurse Director that I would like for him to work for one day. So I try to always encourage my Nurslings and help them if I can.

Merry Christmas to you. Love the Avatar...my staff calls me Grumpy Cat and have convinced me that I bear a striking resemblance. LMBO!

No I did not have to step foot in NY at all. I sent them my application and went to a testing site here in FL. When I enrolled on Pearson Vue to retake the test I just put that I wanted my results sent to NY instead of FL.

You sound very frustrated and annoyed instead of encouraging to those who need it. We all have issues that may prevent us from passing and she just wanted information because she couldn't afford the expenses not to run away from the test.

is their any foreign students here in this group..coz i want to apply NY too but they said they want my CGFNS..i already take 3x times in florida but i failed..
