Hi there~ I am searching for something new or different for my bulletin board for next school year. Got any that you'd like to share and brag about? Or any good ideas? Thanks so much!
And I'm sure this has come up beofre, so I'm off to look, now that I think about it!

I did 2 different ABC boards--- ABC's of healthy snacks and ABC's of healthy habits. I made up my own lists and added pictures/ clip art. Looks quite cute! (I'll challenge you to come up with your own, but if you get stuck on a letter I'll give you some hints!!)
Next year at my middle school, I'm going to do one on sugar content/ caffeine content in various sodas.

I have one up right now called "Six Steps to Healthy Handwashing". I will try to attach a pic later. The steps are:
1. Wet Hands
2. Add soap and rub
3. Lather for 20 seconds (long enough to sing the alphabet song)
4. Rinse well
5. Dry hands
6. Use the paper towel to turn the faucet off, then throw it away.

I have done food groups of the month.
I think next year I am going to go with National Monthly Awareness themes. I googled "national awareness and found a government website with a calendar of the different 'monthly awarenesses". For example, May is Asthma and Allergy Awareness Month. I posted info about asthma and environmental allergies.
I am going to finish the year with a display of Health Record needs by grade for the next school year. Hopefully, I can cut down on the "I didn't know Johnny needed a physical" phone calls in the fall.

I did the natl. monthly awareness info for staff. I'd send out a newsletter with information about the different events and days. They really liked that!
What age levels? I have high school kids. At the beginning I did a board on MRSA, then I did one on viral illnesses and prevention (included a cold vs flu part), and now I'm doing one on safe tanning (dangers of tanning with myth busters, healthy alternatives to tanning and pictures of skin cancer and the skin ca warning signs).

age levels are helpful
here is a sampling of what i've done:
Sept: - Lice prevention month
October -Fire Safety (hey....it's somewhat relevant - and the kids expect it from their firefighter nurse )
November - Hank, the hand washing turkey comes out to show the proper steps in handwashing
December - downloaded from CDC the 12 ways to good health, slap up a few snow flakes and maybe a construction paper penguin
January - resolve to be healthy in 2009 - keep up the snowflakes and penguin
February - love your heart month with conversation heart health tips and facts
March - Eat a rainbow of fruits and veggies and a healthy body will be your pot of gold (i think the website for that is eatarainbow.org or something - try googling it)
April - Let positive thoughts be your umbrella - with an umbrella of positive words cut out of magazines
May - Don't let ticks tick you off - tick and lyme disease safety - it's a huge problem here
june -Sun safety- wear sunblock
Thanks so much for all the ideas everyone......sorry, I forgot to include that I am at an elementary school. I really appreciate it!
I had a cute idea for a bulletin board I am going to work on over the summer. I was thinking of all the different "hats" school nurses wear, so I am going to have someone photograph myself wearing different hats with themes that I will relate to school nursing. Silly stuff, like a police hat with the title "Handwashing Police" or a tiara with the title "Queen of Vaccines". In the center will be me wearing all whites and a nursing cap, and the other silly ones will surround it. Does it sound cheezy, or cute? I figure the elem kids will get a kick out of it!
