Near Passing Standard...

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Well that was quick, took my nclex on Thursday and on Monday received my failure notice from the BON.

But... I must say it's not really helpful on what I should study. It just says... "near passing standard"

so.... now what.... what direction to I go in??

I am just assuming I never taken boards and starting from the begining on studying....anyone else tired of studying?? I think I am on brain overlad with information that I am totally confusing myself. I have forced myself since Thursday not to pick up a book.... just relax for a week then start studying. But now I feel like I HAVE TO PICK UP MY BOOKS!

I forgot what it's like to enjoy the simple things of life. I feel like I have lost the last 2 years of time with my daughter! She's only 6. And she says, "you always study." It's breaking my heart.

uggggghhhh! Now 45+ more days to wait for my retake!!

I made a 60% on the pretest.

How often are you doing the chapters? I have been doing one chapter every other day. Rotating with the exam cram.

I am hoping to finish the two in approx. 2 weeks.

Then I plan to do LaCharity and read some hurst material (a friend that took the live class let me borrow her book) for 2 weeks.

Hopefully in 4 weeks I'll be ready.

I really need to retake NCLEX last week of July.

I have my two job interviews on Monday and I know that if I get hired I have to have my license by August 16 to start.

Praying and hoping!

Do you have a job lined up yet or struggling? It's hard to find a new grad position! One of the position i am interviewing is not a new grad position, it's for Med surge but because I have been an LPN for 7 years they said they are giving me the opportunity to interview. : )

I just started today, and only did the pretest in which i made the 63, I am taking vacation, in which really is not a vacation off from work the week before the test so i hope to complete this review during that week. I am going to try to do a chapter a day and write down info as i go to make it stick. I had a icu interview but had to call and tell them i failed my exam and that i was willing to still do the interview in hopes that i pass the second time and she said she would have to contact someone else and let me know because if there was a chance that i did fail they wouldn't know what to do with me because i am a LPN and they don't hire LPN.........ICU is were I want to be, and really looking foward to passing the second time around

How did you get an interview for ICU?? I have been appyling but no luck!

shonda, I am hoping to get the Med surge position that I am interviewing for. I even googled the top 50 questions I could be asked and have been practicing my responses. Is that weird? I just hope they offer me the position.

I hope your dream comes true and you get into ICU. Good place to learn a lot!

did you schedule yet?

the hospital here hires new grads for any postion. I live in KY, and no anything helps when trying to find help passing the nclex, if i were to tell u the things i did, u would probably think im crazy, and no I havent got a schedule yet, I didn't know i would get one.

I meant did you schedule your new test date yet?

Anything you want to share for my job interview?

yeah I have july 22 at 1230, so nervous and i figured a afternoon appt would be better for me.......I plan on not telling anyone around me so that they wont expect me to pass or make myself feel pressured to pass.

Hope the interview will be all that you want and go smooth, I would let them know the truth, and enforce that you will pass!

by the way i made a 75 on managment of care, now starting the second substitle, i notice that the first couple of sections are short but then it get further into the review and takes 15-16 hrs to complete. WOW looks like a lot of hard work for me and you. lol

Good idea, I don't plan on telling anyone either. I can't face people again if I were to fail. But that's not really an option.

There is a lot of reading. I started on Management of care last night. Couldn't get through it though. So much reading.

I'm still waiting on my new ATT, hope to get it soon. I know that since I applied to a different state that's why it's taking so long. How far is your drive to the nearest Pearson vue center?

I'm leaving this afternoon to head on my 9 hour drive (hubby is doing all the driving, I'll be doing all the sleeping, LOL!)

My interviews are tomorrow! I'm getting kinda of nervous. But I'll be honest and be myself.

I'll sign back on Tuesday late so I'll post and let you know how it goes.

the closest center is nashville tn and their appt time was 8 and that would make me leave at 5am because of so much traffic, so I went to were i took my lpn and rn the first time which is indiana which is 15 mins longer than nashville and have a afternoon appt so if i dont get any sleep like last time I can rest im the morning of the exam.......I hope you get the job, and gosh i hope I pass lol, it was almost embarassing when i failed but it hurt my soul more than anything. Hit me back soon........good luck

Hey Shonda I'm back. LONG drive and my back is killing me!

so, one of the places said they would love to have me, said i had a great personality and I could make a difference. she showed me there HCAP scores (pts rating the hosptial) and they were pretty bad, apparently there trying to change staff and improve their quality care. Anyways, I really am hopeful and they said that htey want me to call them as soon as I pass my state boards. I really wish I could get something in writing but they didn't offer.

the other place i really liked too, it didn't seem to promising but we'll see.

did you get something in writing when they offered you the job in ICU??

I just finished the 2end topic on the online nclex review and made both 75 percents, I kinda happy with that and i think my condfidence is improving. I really wish i had the money for kaplan online course but its too expensive. I am really glad you had a good interview, it keeps the motivation going. hey by the way go on kaplan site and sign up for the free online seminar of kaplan in july. sorry if i bug u so much, there is no one out there that can relate to how i felt when i failed.......thanks for the support.

Shonda your not buggin me!! I'm good, I feel the same. Not to many people can relate. And our timelines are so close.

I am still waiting on my new ATT.

gosh u still havent got it yet......what state do you live in?
