Hello all, Just starting a thread here for any applicants to the 2nd Entry Nursing Program for U of T, York, and Mac.
People can:
-ask questions and/or post when they have received an offer of admission or rejection
-share their marks/volunteer experience
-support each other during the super stressful waiting game
-discuss application issues, essay questions, prerequisites, etc.
There was one last year and I found it super helpful to see what others were doing, when offers were going out, and which candidates were selected. It's also a good reference for next year's potential applicants.
For myself, I have applied to U of T, Mac, York, and Dalhousie, with an A- or 3.66 GPA overall and 3.63 in my last 30 credits (10 half courses or 5 whole courses). I do not hold a Bachelor degree, but am in 3rd year at York's Honours BA Psychology, and hold an Associate of Arts from Langara College in BC. I have several years experience volunteering for an inner-city after-school program, for a crisis intervention phone line, and with fundraising.
Last year I was rejected from U of T with 3.53 in the last 30 credits, and only 2 years post-secondary. I had a C+ in one of my reported pre-requisites.
Hope this helps everyone and best of luck to you all!!
@hopefulN. :) Thank you I think I should really call OUAC and York on Monday about this. My cGPA is in the B+ range, so I was suprised to get the offer. I don't know what my GPA is for the last 10 credits actually but I think it was also in the B+ range.
@nisreen. Hi Nisreen, Congrats! And thanks for your reply :) I'm hoping that the York's package comes next week so that I can learn more about this conditional offer. Btw if you don't mind me asking, which school do you go to? Are you a York student or from a different university? I'm trying to figure out if the offer expiration date and the condition varies based on where you are from. Also, I'm going to call OUAC and York about whether or not I can accept subsequent offers.
The problem is that I don't know if I will be able to get a B in a psyc course that I'm taking right now. If I take up York's offer - resulting in me not being able to accept offers from other universities - and then my final grade for the psyc course is below B, I will not be able to attend York. This would also mean that I would have to wait another year to try for nursing. ... It really is a stressful situation at the moment

Hey,
I am not a York student and I completely understand what you mean. It is very stressful in my case as well (psyc is really not my thing :/). Call York and ask them about your conditional offer. BTW a B is between 70-74 according to their grade scale. Also, you have up to august to show them prove of the completed pre-reqs. You can either work really hard to get the highest mark u can get, or drop the course if it is not too late and take it in the summer, or if u cant drop it and u end up doing poorly u can still upgrade and repeat the course in the summer. You have a lot of time left in that regard.
as to the deadline for accepting the offer, there is really no way out because I asked York and they said there is no extension.
keep us updated and good luck!!
[h=1]From the OUAC Website:
Common Questions[/h][h=2]When I accept an offer of admission, does it mean that I will not be considered for any other offers?[/h]Accepting an offer of admission from one university will not cancel your application to other universities and/or programs. However, you may have only one acceptance of an offer on file at a time. Before you can accept a subsequent offer online, you must first cancel the previously accepted offer currently on file. Note: If you submit a subsequent paper acceptance, the OUAC will automatically cancel your previously accepted offer.
I hope it's not too late!!
Hi potentials,
I have been applying to different programs including York, u of t and Humber. While accepted already I have to admit not my first choice necessarily. Anybody know the clinical hrs or where to find info of each program? Was going to start calling programs and asking, a few treads have been helpful mainly comparing ryerson with u of t. Any help appreciated...

Hey nutmeg congrats. I got accepted too and it sucks that my offer expires on March 4th because I was waiting to hear from other universities
when u accept the offer u wont be able to accept other offers on ouac.
My offer of admission is conditional and they stressed it twice that I should get minimum B in psych (my only in progress pre-requisite) as well as all my other courses I am currently enrolled in.
