2nd Entry Nursing Applications for Sept. 2013 - U of T, York, McMaster

World Canada CA Programs

Published

Hello all, Just starting a thread here for any applicants to the 2nd Entry Nursing Program for U of T, York, and Mac.

People can:

-ask questions and/or post when they have received an offer of admission or rejection

-share their marks/volunteer experience

-support each other during the super stressful waiting game

-discuss application issues, essay questions, prerequisites, etc.

There was one last year and I found it super helpful to see what others were doing, when offers were going out, and which candidates were selected. It's also a good reference for next year's potential applicants.

For myself, I have applied to U of T, Mac, York, and Dalhousie, with an A- or 3.66 GPA overall and 3.63 in my last 30 credits (10 half courses or 5 whole courses). I do not hold a Bachelor degree, but am in 3rd year at York's Honours BA Psychology, and hold an Associate of Arts from Langara College in BC. I have several years experience volunteering for an inner-city after-school program, for a crisis intervention phone line, and with fundraising.

Last year I was rejected from U of T with 3.53 in the last 30 credits, and only 2 years post-secondary. I had a C+ in one of my reported pre-requisites.

Hope this helps everyone and best of luck to you all!!

Does anyone have any information on the second entry nursing program at humber college?

To everyone that has been waiting on York, I got my rejection today :(

On my file it said "program full-unsuccessful". I called ******** from admissions and she told me that my cGPA was lower than B, it was at the boderline. The problem is that I graduated a few years ago, so regardless of how many courses I take to upgrade, they wont change the cGPA which totally sucks.

My last 30 credits was 78% (B+) and I wasted about 5000 grand this year taking courses just to get into York!

Anyways I did get wait listed for U of T which I think is totally strange, especially considering that their expectations are higher than York (references, mini essay format questions, marks, volunteer etc). I am keeping my fingers crossed....

Congrats to everyone that had worked so hard and got into the schools of their choice, wish you all the best in your journey. :)

Hey Terry, I went to the interview at the end of May and the person that interviewed me told me that I will get a response by June 7th. I was worried since I didnt hear back so I called admissions and they said they are sending acceptances tomorrow- June 28th to all the people that got in. Hopefully we both hear something back :) Good luck!

Hi shana0817

I'm also applying to Nursing this year and was just wondering if you got into any of the schools last year. My average is not that great either which is why I'm getting a little nervous now.

Thanks a lot!

Hi tkat

Were you finally able to get into UofT? I have applied for this year.

Thanks!

Hey do you mind telling me your cGPA though.

Thanks a lot!

I applied to UofT, Queen's, uOttawa, York, and UWO. I received an offer from uOttawa in early Feb (program starts summer 2013) and accepted because I knew there would be little hope of another offer before my mid-Feb deadline. I have since been accepted to Queen's on March 28th and to UofT on April 2nd! Even though the UofT program starts and ends later, I think UofT is my first choice! Just waiting on my letter offer in the mail before accepting online...

Good luck to everyone waiting for acceptances :)

Hey,

I've applied this year, do you mind sharing your stats?

Is there a thread for 2014 hopefuls? I just got my acceptance to Queen's and Trent but still waiting on UofT (my first choice). Just wondering if anyone heard anything for them and if so what their stats were.

Check out the thread I started called "Second entry nursing 2014", there are some others (including myself) who are waiting to hear from U of T!

Accepted into Mac this afternoon! :)

Hey Eeff, I know you probably don't use this account anymore... but I'm really curious about your background stats and acceptances. I'm applying to Trent, Mac, and U of T this year with a 77 average in my last 10 courses and an 86 average in my last 5.0 courses, my cumulative average is only a 71 :(.

I read that your last 10.0 courses were around a 77 too, did you end up getting into Trent?

Does Trent/ Mac consider your winter semester grades in your average or only your fall grades?

Please let me know if you receive this or shoot me an email : [email protected] , I have a lot more questions and it's so hard to find information :( Thanks so much hope you'r enjoying your program!
