2nd Career Resume Critique

Published

Specializes in Med Surg, PCU, Travel.

Hello guys

I am a second career changer coming from the telcom and cable industry and I'm trying to get my foot in the door at hospitals before I graduate. I'm looking at PCT or CNA positions but I am not a certified.

Being 2nd career I worked lots of other places however I did work for xx years as an EMT but that was 10 years ago so I dont know how relevant it is but i wanted it on my resume as health care experience. I am no longer a certified EMT

All my other positions were relatively same even though I switched companies. Some jobs i did were less than 6 months 1 was just a month and I'm including those to avoid gaps in my resume. I did have the odd job at walmart and a resturant as a cook for a couple months.

The good news is I managed to get my 4 page resume down to 1 page like everyone says fitting in my last 10 years work history. I just dont know how good it is. I also hope this will help me craft my Graduate nurse resume. Any suggestions are thoroughly welcomed...be candid and brutal I can take it:blink: lol.

I omitted references to save space. Do I need to add References???

Specializes in Complex pedi to LTC/SA & now a manager.

References not needed. Get rid of the objective as you covered that in your cover letter. Id put clinical skills, education, organizations then other work experience.

Specializes in Complex pedi to LTC/SA & now a manager.

Put clinical experience & rotations together only expand on unique experiences that a typical nursing student might not have such as preceptorship in PICU.

HS diploma is assumed but your AA may be relevant.
