NCTC ADN Fall 2014

Published

I just wondering if there are others out there applying this May for the Fall 2014 class. I just found out I have everything to apply at NCTC but with a B in A&P I I only have 10 points and I'm not sure if I will make the cut. Anyone else?

Thanks so much for the extra info, helps answer my book questions. Now I won't worry I'm getting the wrong thing. Off to the get books & scrubs today. Has anyone checked their schedule through myNCTC? I just noticed this morning that I'm officially registered for classes! Woo-hoo.

Excellent! I will make sure I pay for my classes then. How awful would it be to forget to do that and be dropped by orientation?

(Pretty awful)

"All new 1st semester students for the Fall 2014 semester are now enrolled in their classes. When you go to look at your schedule in MyNCTC you will need to check the box for "Lions Alert"."

Does anyone know where to find the Lion Alert? I couldn't find it.

Ok, I think I found it - it is just signing up for emergency texts or email right?

The Lion Alert sends out texts when there is bad weather or school closings, etc. For us, it seemed to only be sent to people that lived in the immediate area of the school. We relied on each other to update FB and send out texts to keep everyone updated. It is a good idea to sign up for it!

Just a second quick note....

DO NOT try to sign up for the ebooks and stuff on your own. There will be a day in class when the Elsevier guy comes and gets everyone enrolled in the online class at once. There will be special instructor codes and stuff that you'll need to enter and he will give them to you. If you use your codes before then, he has to fix your account for you. So, just sit tight with your codes. You won't be asked to go online until after your accounts are made.

Thanks so much for all your helpful information jls0459. It is so appreciated.

jlgs0459 or amandacam, will he have assignments or reading to begin after orientation? I am just considering what I need to get done in the next two weeks and wondering if I should plan for studying after orientation? Thanks!

Yes, you will have reading to do before hand. Traditionally, it has been the first 3 chapters of the Fundamentals book. As soon as I gather the information, I will let you know for sure.

I know orientation is only 10 days away, and I don't want to attract the wrong kind of attention to myself, but I am getting a little sick with worry that if I don't give as much notice as possible then my home health patient may be at risk of going without coverage on a day I have to be gone for school. Is there any way to know a little earlier what date the first in-person day of school is for hybrid students?

They have not put out specific information yet for dates. Have you tried calling the office to ask if they can give you that information? If they already know, I'm sure they will tell you!
