Sep 14, 201213 yr I failed NCLEX first time and I used Kaplan for the questions and Feur for content. The reason why I failed because I rushed my test which I shouldnt have done and taken my time instead. I think I panicked I felt the NCLEX was much harder than Kaplan questions. So now I am using Prioritization, Delegation and Assignment Book by LaCharity (the style of the question is just like the NCLEX), Saunders for content (questions are too easy) and I am going to use NCSBN to do the questions. Kaplan has offered me to retake their course (its free and my school had integrated their program into our course work), so I am going to listen to their videos to see if I can apply their strategies (they were not useful the first time when I took the course) and just do their trainers again. At least this is my plan for now...my best suggestion to you is to buy the NCSBN (because they are the ones who make the test and their questions are closer to the actual NCLEX) and if you really want to do Kaplan, buy their strategy book and see if you can understand it and be able to apply it to questions. Hope this helps....good luck!
Sep 14, 201213 yr Author thank u so much for your reply. i think i will follow what you said coz i have sauders, la charity and kaplan strategy book. then i will definitely enrol on ncsbn. thank u so much i really apreacite it.
Sep 14, 201213 yr Hello everyone!I used Kaplan, NCSBN and NCLEX 4000. Kaplan hands down was mostly like NCLEX, even the way the questions look. During NCLEX I felt like I was just doing another practice exam :) Make sure if you have Kaplan you do question trainers 6 and 7 (but do these when u are done going over content and feel ready only). They are very good, long, but good. I found NCLEX 4000 to be waaaay to easy, but their select all that apply are very good. You can click on alternative questions to get their SATA.As far as NCSBN I wasnt a big fan. Used it once in a while just to do questions from different companies and not get too used to one style.Overall, I loved Kaplan questions (not crazy about the strategies, used it only like on three questions, but the instructor will help you format your overall thinking into Maslows, ABC's and priority).I just took my exam a couple days ago, stopped at 75 questions and I got the good pop up with the Pearson vue trick. Fingers crossed the trick is accurate. Goodluck everyone!!I hope this helps :)
Sep 15, 201213 yr I will be taking NCLEX the 2nd time next month. And I can really tell NCSBN and PDA by LaCharity is the closest one to NCLEX. I am actually using lippincott, kaplan and hurst right now, but will do NCSBN and PDA again 2 weeks before my scheduled exam.
Sep 16, 201213 yr Hi all, Can you guys give me suggestions on which online review courses I should take. I mean the online one. I know that Hurst online review lets you stream their video content for a whole year. Do they cover all topics or just certain topics. Are there online reviews that any of you would recommend and why i should take it?I'm currently using LaCharity PDA, Saunders 5th Edition and CD QA, Saunders 4th CD QA and now I'm planning on buying a Kaplan 2012-2013 Strategies, Practice, and Review. Thanks in advance everyone!
which is better ncsbn, hurst or kaplan? thank u so much
