NCLEX Test, 75 questions cut off

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

good morning!! My daughter just took her NCLEX this morning, she is freaking out... She has ALWAYS had major anxiety when it comes to test...

It cut off at 75 questions, she said it was hard in parts and the questions got so easy at the end, she thinks that is because she did bad (she always thinks that) It took her about 2 hours.

Can anyone tell me if 75 cut off is good or bad or you never know? Any reassurance would be greatly appreicated.

She is will be a great nurse, already has a job in top childrens' hospital GN program in PICU.

Her stress is totally STRESSING ME.

Most likely she passed-odds are if you cut off at 75 she hit the minimum number right. Everyone that I knew that stopped at 75 passed. It is not a guarentee as the CAT testing system can cut off if the absolute numebr at 75 missed would not allow the pass amount, but I have never seen it.

Hard to say. I'm in the same boat. I just took the NCLEX-PN on Tuesday and am awaiting results. I too got the minimum, and I'm fairly certain I passed. I am not a "stressed" tester, and i took my 85 questions in just over an hour.

The CAT model allows for the minimum number of questions if a) you're really good and answer well or b) you really suck and didn't get a thing right.

As said earlier, most people that get the minimum pass, because even the worst test takers get enough right to force the computer to ask more questions before making a failing determination.

Having said all of that, NOBODY I have ever talked to said "I aced it!" and all of them passed 1st time except for one girl that couldn't think her way out of a wet paper sack. How she passed NS in the first place is still unknown.

hey clee1. i'm new to the forum and just want to ask ...what is your take on the NCLEX-PN, because I will be taking it soon.

Not a cake walk, but not nearly as difficult as everyone tries to make it out to be.

Buy a good comprehensive study guide (I used the Saunders) and spend some time in it.

Keep the following in mind 1) The NCLEX's main purpose it to determine if it is safe for you to begin practice as a new nurse and 2) the nursing process is what they are really testing.

Everyone I know that has passed stopped at 85,including myself.

BUT, the NCLEX does cut off at the minimum of 85 under two circumstances-either the test-taker has answered at least 95% of the questions correctly or 95% of the questions incorrectly...

Hi there,

I also took my boards this week and the computer shut off at 75. To say the least, I am completly freaked out. When I went home and looked through my books I discovered I had answered more than a few wrong. It seemed to me that the questions stayed at about the same level of difficulty, which has me very nervous. Has any one else who has shut off at 75 seen the questions stay about the same level.

Thanks

I feel your pain! I took mine Monday, and am DYING...mine shut off at 75, and I am 100 percent certain that I failed. I graduated with honors, took Kaplan, and feel like an IDIOT!

10 hours till I find out, but who's counting? LOL

I keep reading these posts, and most of them are reassuring.

GL to you!

I think what you meant to say was that the test will end at the minimum amount of questions only if the computer is 95% sure of whether to assign you a status of "pass" or "fail".

75 is a very very good number. most test takers always feel puzzled with their performance. NCLEX is just one of those tests. when you take the nclex they usually provide you with a pamphlet. the pamphlet says that about 80% of first time US educated NCLEX test takers pass (very true). usually when you get the minimum number you pass (according to my stats). but you can never know. good luck :)

Well only a few more hours until they post my results and to say the least I'm crawling out of my skin. I would like to thank you all for your encouragement, this web site is great for releaving post-NCLEX antiety. I wish all who have taken this exam and are waiting for results, all the luck in the world. I just hope 75 is my lucky number today!!!

I PASSSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

75 questions..and trust me I was sure I failed....KEEP THE FAITH GUYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
