good morning!! My daughter just took her NCLEX this morning, she is freaking out... She has ALWAYS had major anxiety when it comes to test...
It cut off at 75 questions, she said it was hard in parts and the questions got so easy at the end, she thinks that is because she did bad (she always thinks that) It took her about 2 hours.
Can anyone tell me if 75 cut off is good or bad or you never know? Any reassurance would be greatly appreicated.
She is will be a great nurse, already has a job in top childrens' hospital GN program in PICU.
Her stress is totally STRESSING ME.
Congrats on passing!!
I also took the NCLEX PN 3 1/2 years ago. It also stopped after 75 question. I left the testing center in tears sure that I had failed.
But happily I had passed.
The test stopps when it has a good idea of whether you will be a safe nurse or not. I know others who went to 200 questions and also passed. so if you stopped at 75 you should feel very good. After the minimum questions teh computer had determined that you would be a safe practicing nurse.
Congrats again and welcome to nursing!
I would say that, in general 75 questions is a good sign! Everyone has stated the statistics on first time test takers, and I think your daughter should keep those numbers in mind. The odds are in her favor. I too only had 75 questions, and walked out of the test sure that I had failed. But I found out that I passed! Best of Luck!! I'm sure she did great!
I took my test just last Wednesday. Your daughter's story sounds exactly like mine. It took me 2 hrs to answer 75 questions and like everyone else, I left feeling like I had failed. For 2 1/2 days I couldn't sleep, eat or even find the motivation to shower (eww, I know), but finally on Saturday morning after getting a wake up call from my mom, I decided to check the BON in CA website and sure enough they issue me a license. There is more than just average chance your daughter passed- as it seems by the replys.
BTW, does anyone know how they decide in CA when your license expires. I noticed in comparison to some of my fellow classmates, my lecense is due to expire a few months earlier than a lot of my classmates- about 5 months to be exact.

Wooooo Hooooo!!!! Congrats!!!! Isn't that SUCH a weight off your shoulders??? Man, I can remember my boards like they were yesterday, and felt just the same as you! Welcome to the world of nursing, YOU'RE GONNA LOVE IT!!!!
Okay, for those of you still waiting for your results, or are getting ready to take the NCLEX-PN or NCLEX-RN, here's my experience.
I took my LPN boards about 5 years ago now, and it shut off at 85 (the minimum for the PN).... and I passed!
I took the RN boards 4 years ago, it shut off at 75 (and only 45 minutes), and was sure I failed. Guess what?? I passed those too! So.... they say that the numbers are randome, but I'm convinced the early shut off means a passing test!
Not to make anybody feel like poop here, but.... thought you might get a chuckle out of my motto as I waited so impatiently for my results after having BOTH boards shut off at the minimum questions..... When anyone asked me if I thought I passed and what number it shut off at, I replied, "Well, it shut off at the minimum... so I'm either a bloomin' idiot, or a damn genious!"
Guess I'm a genious! LOL LOL LOL :w00t:
I wish you all the best of luck!!!! And congrats to all you new nurses!!!!
PS: Here's what I think about the boards -----> :crash_com
