NCLEX suggestions!

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

I have been on this site since 2009 reading forums and I must say Thank you everyone!

Now that I have passed the NCLEX (found out today) I thought I might give my suggestions.

1. Practice NCLEX passing question - i used saunders and kaplan books (no class) - do as many as you can.

2. Know your values - electrolytes, labs, etc

3. Don't memorize, try to understand the physiology

4. Remember ABCs

5. Don't worry too much about meds - know the important ones - contraindications, normal reactions, etc

6. Don't pick the right choice first - Eliminate the wrong ones and narrow down to the right choice.

7. Take your time - 265 question - 360 minutes - Enough time

8. Practice alternate type question

9. Have a study plan, I like pressure so i studied ~30 hrs in the last two days.

10. Understand precautions (airborne, contact, etc.)

It's not an easy exam, i walked out thinking i failed. It's ok to be nervous, but don't let the fear take over. My thinking is if i don't pass i can always take it again. So give it your best shot and you will pass.

Congrats..so all the studying u did was in two days? or is that what u pushed the last 2 days before ur test...

I did ~1500 practice questions by Monday (oct 25) then in the last few days i studies all the stuff i was not sure about (peds, pregnancy, etc)

Don't get nervous when people say the test is hard. I thought it was relatively easy, easier than nursing school. I got 85 questions and passed. Only a handful of questions had me scratching my head.If you study daily, it WILL be easy. Good luck/

It is simple. If you study - the test is going to be easy.

If you don't study - it is going to super hard.
