NCLEX RN

Published

Hey guys!!

I just took the NCLEX RN Saturday. OMG it was the hardest test ever (my opinion). I was not confident after I left the testing site. I had ALL 145 questions and that survey thing at the end. ? I felt like crying. The past 2 days I have been stressed. I did the PVT trick and got the good pop up. I was still nervous. Well 48 hours has passed and I finally checked my quick results. I PASSED!! OMG that was a huge relief!!

Info: I finished school May 7. I started using UWorld that day. I did 75 questions a day. I did practice questions for 3 weeks on and off and took my test May 29.

I just wanted to share my experience. I took the NCLEX on 6/8/21 in Texas. I spent all of that evening and yesterday reading blogs and watching Youtube video's about how to prepare for your next try. My exam shut off at 75 questions but I could only remember feeling really confident about 5 or so questions. It seemed like for every question I just thought, "well I'm just gonna go with that and hit next." The proctor was probably thinking I was crazy because I dropped my head every time I resigned myself to hit next. I used UWorld and was feeling good because I did all but about the last 200 questions. I also did ATI board vitals and did over half the ~3400 questions. I called my husband when I left going.... there were so many questions/answers I hadn't seen or I would get a question that I'd seen with answers that I hadn't. It was so frustrating to feel like I knew the topic but some of the answers were so obscure. I checked this morning and the NCLEX quick results still says results not available.... but the BON shows I now have an active license with an expiration of June 2023!  I just want to say that I feel it is completely normal to leave that test feeling like you probably didn't pass and still be OK.  Best of luck to everyone!!

Hi , congratulations!!
please help. I just moved to Texas and I’m preparing to take my RN boards .. I am so scared. I’ve ran across a few people that stated that it matters where you take your NCLEX. What testing site did you go to in Tx. I am using UWorld to prepare. I have spoke with people here in Texas that say they tested 5 times and did not pass. Any advise?

Hi, I tested at the Carrollton location in the DFW area. I'm not much help about what to do only what I shared before about using UWorld and ATI BoardVitals. I kind of giggle when I read all the people who felt they passed when they walked out... maybe they did, I sure didn't but it all worked out. Best of luck!

Thank you.

Anyone took the NCLEX in Tx and discovered that it was harder ?

What type of questions did you have on your test? Was it a mixture of different systems? Did you have select all that apply? How to insert cath. Chest tubes, ? I think the limit of questions is 145, so I was thinking they would give a mixture of topics. I’m really nervous about this test.

Does anyone live in GA and know if the BON will update license numbers on the weekend?

The testing center was super secure and the paper I was given to read said minimum 75 questions, max 265. My test cut off at 75. They said we can't attempt to reconstruct any questions from memory and luckily I don't think your question is asking that ? What I've read said there can be math, SATA, put in order, hot spot selections, multiple choice, etcetera and I think it is completely random. I personally got 0 math and 0 put in order type questions. It felt like 80% of the questions were SATA in my case. The rest were just multiple choice.  These SATA can be prioritization as in what would you do in a given situation. And the systems and disease processes where across the board even in a single question.  It probably doesn't help you any because the next person's experience is probably completely different. What I would say is know your major illnesses, signs & symptoms, meds for them, assessments, and know all your lab values. Also know your electrolytes and glucose hypo and hyper signs and symptoms.  I guess I'm saying if you have a good foundation and then do all the UWorld questions, studying the rationales they give, I think it will be fine. UWorld helped me tons, if I missed a question I would read their info and then look back in my text book and class notes to really brush up on that topic. Also I "marked" every question I got wrong so once I finished the database of questions, I made new tests of only questions I'd gotten wrong, and went through it all again and again. Sending you good vibes and wishes! You got this!

Thank you!! No, I wasn’t asking to to reconstruct the questions .. you answered all of my concerns ?! Thanks !!

Im so over testing. Today was my third time taking my NCLEX. My test stopped at 145 again. It so overwhelming and draining to thinking that I didn't passed again. The saddest part is that this time I felt positive I took my time, I studied. I truly felt confident during the test. Came home waited the 2 hours and got the "bad pop" on PVT : card decline/ card is expired.
