i'll be taking my exams soon.. proly by the end of this month.. and i just wanna get all the info. that i need.. like topics and questions that i really2 need to focus on.. been having a hard time with drugs.. and s/s of most of the dse. sucks really..
a lil' help here you guys
Ok, sorry to say i just took the nclex 4 days ago. I did kaplan, saunders, karrenbergs, and every other possible teaching mechanism. dont let anyone tell you to forget or focus on one thing. I for example had about 10-15 med questions... (yet someeone above told you not to focus on them) and zero math questions. my friend who also tested recently had the exact opposite. i finished in 88 questions and left feeling completely sure i failed, but i in fact PASSED.....my friend left literally in tears cuz she knew she failed AT 75 QUESTIONS, SHE PASSED TOO.... the test is designed to determine if you are safe in several categories, not just one or two... if you answer a question wrong, it will ask you more questions on the topic, at the same time, if you get a question right, it will also ask you more questions on that topic at a higher level to see if you meet the criteria.. your low level questions will be ones that you are able to reason your way through with out too much difficulty, the high level questions will require you to think deeper into the question to get the answer an wont be so appearant at first view, those SATA question will seem terrible but just stick to your guns and dont freak out..... THE MORE HIGH LEVEL QUESTIONS YOU CAN ANSWER CORRECTLY, THE SHORTER YOUR TEST WILL BE.....MOST IMPORTANTLY...... RELAX AND GOOD LUCK....

I just passed my NCLEX-RN.
Here's what i did, i hope it would help. PRAY
1. 3 mos review.
2. read saunders book (cover-cover)
3. subscribed kaplan Q bank
4. know by heart inf. control and endo
5. practice Q and A (3 weeks before my exam 300Q/day)
6. subscribed NCSBN (3 weeks only)
i stopped at 75 @ 2 and half hours....
GOD BLESS! AND GOOD LUCK!
hey pals cleared nclex this month and honestly its such a relief ...
be thorough with saunders and pharmac,, att book for pharmac is pretty good, kaplan course book pharma and herbals is good for last minute review ... " do read herbals from kaplan without fail "
i was asked a lot of pharmac questions and also prioritization infection control
the prioritization book by linda (mosby) was pretty helpful for me.
Make a plan and follow it and you will make it do not cheat with your plan at all ...
NCLEX is tough but not if you do your best.
Just do your best and leave the rest [donot forget to PRAY - EXERCISE - and one day off/wk is good to start fresh again]
ALL THE VERY BEST ... BE SURE YOU WILL MAKE IT ... GOD BLESS ...
I just took the NCLEX last Friday and passed! I stopped at 75.In my honest opinion, don't waste your time on meds. In my study plan, I scheduled 3 or 4 days to dedicate for meds, but as soon as I found out more info from friends.. I decided to replace those days exclusively for practice questions. The meds that showed up on my test were ones I have never even heard of! It would've been impossible and a waste of time had I studied those.
I ended up doing 3500 practice questions (give or take a few). This is what I found was most helpful. Exposing yourself to different types of questions is the best way! I purchased the Saunders book, but I totally dropped all my content review because it wasn't working for me. The questions are all knowledge! You have most of the knowledge you need for this test. Some people tend to forget what the NCLEX is actually testing for: CRITICAL THINKING!! You will only get this from the right kind of practice question. Remember your ABCs ALWAYS!! I strongly suggest NCSBN!
I agree with the posters above in that endocrine and infection control showed up quite frequently. Check this page out: http://www.utmb.edu/ERC/student/isolatio.htm It really helped me out!
Diet was also a biggie. For example: potassium-rich foods and which kind of diets go with specific diseases (celiac, renal, Cushings, etc...).
I did not have any med math, but if you feel you are rusty you should of course do some practice.
Hope this helps!
