NCLEX-RN/PN

Published

okay, so i learned yesterday that i passed the nclex.. and i figured, this site has helped me a lot, it has almost every answer to my questions.. the forums here are helpful i must say.. so now, i hope i can also help someone who will take their nclex..

this one id like to share because i think this is vital for your preparation.. CHOOSING A REVIEW CENTER.. now, i dont have a lot of insight about the diff. review center available, but i suggest that you read about the personal exp. of other people before you apply for that review center.. be sure that the money your spending is really worth it..

iL share mine to you.. i chose this review center because of the positive feedback from its students..

this review center is america healthways education.. they have two programs, you can choose the unlimited program, or the regular one.. the unlimited program i thinks is best for those who had a long break from nursing, or those who think that they need to improve more on the content area, or for those who failed couple of times.. because with the unlimited program your like having your personal coach with you, guiding you until your ready for the exam..

about me, i only chose the regular one, because financial wise i dont have the resources to pay for the unlimited prog. coz honestly, im even lucky i was able to attend a review class, also i cant afford to wait long for the exam, i wanted to take the exam within a month after the review.. still, i can say that 7 day review with the instructor is a big help for me, i learned new things regarding new drugs, procedures, etc.. it also helped me refresh the things i forgot.. also, with this class everyone interacts, so not only your learning with the instructor but you will also learn because of the interaction between the students and the instructor..

i also suggest if you plan to apply in AHEC , go there days before the start of the review so you can have your study materials on hand before the review, also they have the assessment test, so you will need time to take those, for them to know what your weak area is, in order for them to know where to focus on you...

okay, enough on that.. this i suggest after your done with the review class..

first you have to set your goals, write them down on a paper or put them on your laptop or whatever.. just be sure to set you goals..

in my case, i started to write my schedule for everyday until my exam date.. (set realistic goals) you know yourself so u know how much you can read for one day, so dont try to push so hard that your just passing on to the page and not really understanding what your reading.. its not always about the quantity, its about the quality..

but dont be so lax that you lose focus on your review..

second.. follow your goals..!

focus on content first, then focus on the area that you know your weak at..

in my case, its pharmacology and med surg..

third.. this is very important.. do your practice test..

this i think is like the polishing stage.. lol..

but seriously, the practice test will help you for the real thing..

btw.. write your scores, so youll know if your improving or not.. plus read the rationale very well, read all, both right and wrong answers.. understand their rationale..

lastly.. dont forget to have a break once in a while.. dont punish your brain with nclex 24/7.. and dont forget to pray.. :)

if you have any questions id be glad to help as much as i can.. you can msg me here..

GOODLUCK..

I applaud the achievement that you have!!! That is beyond great... it's FANTABULOUS!!!

aaaah this helps me so much i am currently reading! and oh, your review school quite sound near to the review school i am eye-ing..american healthcare review center in NJ.

As you can see, i just graduated, and moved to NY, and currently preparing myself to take future examinations *i'll prolly take up cgfns since i graduated at a foreign country*, now i'm currently looking for a review school to enter to,my first choice was kaplan but i've been seeing negative complaints, im considering AHRC as my review school now..but it's far from where i am.

i am such a newbie and i think this site will help me alot too. :)

I've been studying and reading but when it comes down to taking the test it's totally different. Please any tips/advice could totally help me. I would appreciate your help in any way possible or help from others.!! I'm new to this site and still trying to find my way through here..

haha same here too. hm I've taken a local nursing board back in my country and I passed. These mentors back in my homecountry always put us into our minds to be exposed to the actual board questions/critical thinking questions as much as you can. learning will always vary depending on convenience. back when i was at my review, i tried reading/collecting all sorts of books/notes, but in the end, i end up gathering and answering past board questions as much as i could (that review center gave us around or more than 3000 critical thinking questions throughout the review course, and add those excess/extra questions i have answered separately)and just listen to the updates of the review school has been teaching me. it worked on me. and will continue to do so in my future nclex review. :)

thanks.. :) now the real thing is waiting for me.. looking for a job..

thanks for your kind words.. :)

good to hear that.. its my first time to write something in this site.. anyway.. what book are you reading?

actually the one in NJ is different, that one is american heathcare, the one im talking about is america healthways education.. its located in cerritos california i think..

where you from? I also graduated from a foreign country, then i moved here in CA but i dont think they require CGFNS here, just nclex.. i did also considered kaplan at first but i was too late when i saw the schedule they already started the review, but its ok because if that did not happen i would not apply in AHEC..

welcome..

sorry to hear that.. but that ok a lot of people i know took the exam twice or 3 times or even more.. just dont lose hope.. and focus.. see to it that when you read you understand the dse or condition..

yah, i must say, its really diff. the questions are unexpected, so i think you need to do a lot of practice test in order to prepare your mind for the actual exam..

what books have you tried?
