hi guys! i love this thread! i just had my test for the second time last march 2011 and i failed..i wish i knew about this site to help me with my review..but i'm not gonna loose hope..i'm thinking of taking the exam this july but reading this thread and getting some advices on what books to study, i might take it end of august..i graduated 2005 in Philippines and worked there as a registered nurse before i came here in NY..i got married and have a baby..the first time i took my 1st exam were 2009.. I did the kaplan review but obviously it didn't work for me and i just gave birth to my baby that time so i think too much stress was going on for me..i was too scared to take the exam again that's why it took me 2 years to do it again..sadly i failed for the second time..I did the NCSBN online review, took the 3week course and finished it on time..the questions are like the real nclex exam..I have been getting 65-75% results everytime i take the questions so i thought i was doing good..i guess it wasn't enough..so now for the third time, i'm gonna focus on my content..i have the kaplan book i had before for content, then bought lacharity and kaplan (thin one)..i'm planning to buy the saunders 5th edition too..i just hope i'll pass this time..

And congrats to all the new registered nurses!=)

Hi guys!

This is my first post but I have been browsing/using this site since 2009. I just recently graduated about two weeks ago and I'm taking my boards on July 5. I couldn't take it asap because I have to through hospital orientation and it takes a while to do that. I'm really nervous about this test! We used ATI throughout nursing school. I got an 80% on my ATI comprehensive and it said there that I have 98% of chance passing the NCLEX the first time! But ok, after I took Kaplan test tonight, I felt like I was going to pass out (I was in question #2). It was 180 questions, I got 124 questions right and 56 questions wrong (so its 69% in percentage). Is that bad guys? Any tips on studying?

Thanks ya'll!

Hey, the PVT worked for me--just got the unofficial results and I PASSED! :nurse:

m3speed, I got 68-69% correct on my Kaplan tests and I did fine, passing with 75 questions. I bet you'll do great too! :heartbeat

what EDITIONS of SAUNDERS, EXAM CRAM, and LACHARITY and KAPLAN did you use/recommend that helped you the most?

Since I really needed a review and update on everything nursing related, I used Saunders Comprehensive edition 4 and did it cover to cover but did not have enough time to utilize the CD questions; got through most of LaCharity newest edition, and went through all the 2010-2011 Kaplan "Strategies, Practice and Review" with the practice questions CD. They were all helpful to me, but I do think you can't possibly know it all; I certainly could have studied all those meds for the next 5 years and still not get them all straight! So I concentrated on the most common and important ones and studied basic endings. With then having a general knowledge base, using Kaplan's help with stategy was perhaps most helpful. I did not do hundreds of questions everyday like some people seem to have done. I just did the basic chapter tests with each book and then did three 180 question tests to practice further with. Oh and I did read and utilize a few notes from others with regards to mnemonics (thanks again guys!) I hope this helps someone.

Should i pursue on the June 22 or not? I graduated March 2010.. I attended the Kaplan Live Lectures Last October until January and did good according to my Lecturer.. Ive been inactive with my review for over 4 months.. and now Just this june decided to take it... I took the Kaplan Question Trainer and Saunders REview and got 65-75 on the average... Do you think its enough?! I'm confused at the moment whether to move it to July.. HELP>> I need Expert Advice from the passers and prospective passers...

Hi everyone! I graduated in May and take my boards this Tuesday (21st). I have been using the Saunders book and Mosby's Review Cards; I think they are very helpful. Classmates of mine that have already passed said there were a lot of prioritization and medication questions. Good luck!! :nurse:
