Hello Nursing World,
I finally decided to make an account after coming to this site almost everyday, for the past several weeks, to research nursing topics. It has helped me greatly and Thank you all for you contributions!
I recently graduated from an ADN program and I am soooo happy and grateful that I was actually able to complete it because it was the MOST challenging experience I have EVER gone through in my entire life. I have to admit, it has been extremely hard to get back to the studying for the NCLEX. It's like my brain rejects the information every time I try to pick up a book and do questions... my brain says: "oh, no not you again." hahaha.... ugh! Never the less, I know I have to prepare for this beast which brings me to this post. I was thinking... Why not challenge some of you who plan on taking the NCLEX late? March/early April 2011?
What do you guys think? Maybe we can message each other here by the end of the day and share whether or not you met your daily goal. For example, I have 2 books (lacharity and Davis Q&A) and I plan on doing 100-150 questions a day until my test date. Even if I do 20-25 in increments throughout the day, the point is to do them daily. Then I will come here and share how my day went. That way we can motivate each other through this excruciating journey.
Whaddayasay huh?!?.... I plan on starting this Sunday... Let me know if any of you guys are interested, I would love to motivate and be motivated by you guys... We need to get together and tame this beast! Lets do this!!!!

I took my test this morning at 8 am... I got like 190ish items... maybe 15 SATA's, mostly PDA's, 2 calculations, maybe 15 lab values, and lots of meds and infectious diseases questions too... It took me 4 hours... Tried the trick and it give me a good pop-up... I hope it is really true... Still praying that I passed... God Bless us all...

Might be a stupid question, but what is PDA? Not familiar with that abbreviation.
And everyone keeps talking about "the trick" to see if they pass, what exactly is that? I keep seeing everyone talk about it, but don't see anywhere where some explains how to do it.

Hi Topaz,
When you say mostly PDA's; what does that mean?
Thank You,

Katm0,How are you doing with the Kaplan? What are your percentages like on the exams, if you're taking them?
I got so many books from different people, its insane! lol... Im NCLEXed OUT! That's why I decided to reschedule, so I can get myself re-organized and get back on track. I finished lacharity and pri/del/asg next on my list Kaplan.
I could see myself on the beach this summer sipping on some ices, NCLEX-worry-free.
Oh, Let's do this!!!
I keep on rollin with the Kaplan and la charity on the side. 98% completed on QBank but the score percentage I am not too proud of but my spirit cannot be broken! I can do this! I'm still undecided wheter to reschedule.. or if not il be taking it on 28th. Eek! We'll see..
Im taking things slowly but surely! I don't want to focus on number of questions I need to accomplished on a specific day but more focus on the rationale : what when wrong and how I got it right? more of the essence and critical thinking... i let go of my guilt whenever I did not answer 150-200 a day and just go with the flow. I am actually thankful because honestly I can see myself improving as the day goes by. It takes time but it works. And it pays off, I sometimes smile and surprised myself that I analyzed it right. But still huge space for improvement!
I still exercise atleast 3x/week but I have this 'Relax with Andrew Johnson'a free Apps on itunes that calms my nerves. As much I want this to be over with I don't want to regret in the end. Anxiety will shoot to the highest level on the NCLEX exam day so I want to prepare myself mentally, physically and emotionally .. so I am trying to lessen the stress while preparing for it.
Summer fun? Yeah I liked that! So let's do this and work hard to get our license!
Believe and we will achieve! Good luck to all of us! :)
Hey, That's what counts... quality over quantity. I just started doing Kaplan Qbank and my scores vary tremendously. I find my weak area is content. I'm getting a hang of the prioritization business thanks to Lacharity but I definitely need to continue reviewing content. I found myself eating chocolate today, I guess the anxiety is kicking in :redbeathe... Im scheduled for the same day as you... Worst case scenario if I have a bad gut feeling the day before, I'll reschedule for the week after and just study more. We got this!
Hi everyone! Thanks for sharing all your experiences and helpful info in regards to the exam. I am taking mine for the second time on April 27th after 6 months! I am scared to death about it this time. I have been using Davis q and a and scoring in the 60's, rarely get over 65%....=(.
Any advice and prayers would be appreciated and if I pass I will come back and post my long study notes I created over the past month.
God bless you all!
Hi! I have LaCharity's book too and would love the online questions. Taking the NCLEX in June and starting focused study-grad in two weeks! :) Let me know if you need my email address!
Thanks!

Anyone taking it in May? I started reading through this forum, but it's too long and I have to get back to STUDYING...lol. I'm taking mine May 4th (unless I don't feel prepared enough and decide to push it back at the last minute). How is everyone studying? What are you using? How many sections/chapters are you getting through each day? What's your score like on the practice exams (not the comprehensive).
I have been using Davis's Q&A (only on test 14 of 48, but so far my scores are in the 60% - 70% 's with the exception of two in which I scored a 54% and 57%)
Just went out and bought Saunder's Comprehensive Review (expensive as HELL), for the content since my book didn't have any and going back and forth between notes and ATI for review was taking waaaaay too long.
I am trying to get through 5 sections a day (about 200 questions, or a little less)...takes at least 6 hours (I break it up though. I do what I can in the day when my baby is asleep...which isn't much since she won't sleep most times, and then hash is out at night after I put her to bed...unfortunately this means I'm going to bed at 3am or later).
Hopefully, if all goes according to plan, I'll be done with Davis's book by next Wed and can spend the remainder of my time taking the Comprehensive exams and reviewing content in Saunders...and maybe some ATI here and there.
I can't wait to get this over with! I just want to be a nurse already...and working!
