NCLEX-RN Exam on April 2011, need motivation?

Published

Hello Nursing World,

I finally decided to make an account after coming to this site almost everyday, for the past several weeks, to research nursing topics. It has helped me greatly and Thank you all for you contributions!

I recently graduated from an ADN program and I am soooo happy and grateful that I was actually able to complete it because it was the MOST challenging experience I have EVER gone through in my entire life. I have to admit, it has been extremely hard to get back to the studying for the NCLEX. It's like my brain rejects the information every time I try to pick up a book and do questions... my brain says: "oh, no not you again." hahaha.... ugh! :uhoh3: Never the less, I know I have to prepare for this beast which brings me to this post. I was thinking... Why not challenge some of you who plan on taking the NCLEX late? March/early April 2011? :yeah: What do you guys think? Maybe we can message each other here by the end of the day and share whether or not you met your daily goal. For example, I have 2 books (lacharity and Davis Q&A) and I plan on doing 100-150 questions a day until my test date. Even if I do 20-25 in increments throughout the day, the point is to do them daily. Then I will come here and share how my day went. That way we can motivate each other through this excruciating journey.

Whaddayasay huh?!?.... I plan on starting this Sunday... Let me know if any of you guys are interested, I would love to motivate and be motivated by you guys... We need to get together and tame this beast! Lets do this!!!!:lol2:

guys congrats!!!! if you have time to buy the la charity book its on amazon for $20 something.. its a really good book. it was also my second time around, the last time was 265 and i failed, didnt have any clue what to do since i thought i knew a lot already, but i realized didnt know how to apply the principle. When i took the test, i finished 75. And honestly, i did not have a hard time at all. just stay focus and know your weakness, if you know the pathology of a disease, you will do just fine during prioritization because sometimes you say, "ahh thats normal on this disease, eliminate"..... thats all i could say.

Hey y'all I passed the NCLEX:yeah::yeah::yeah: April 4, 2011:idea:;)

It was a beast! I had 75 questions. I would love more than anything to answer any of your questions, so ask away!! It was my 2nd time btw, dreams do come true and they will for you too!!! :redbeathe:redbeathe:redbeatheGood luck everyone!! Pray and study, eat healthy, exercise, get rest. And do thousands of questions. Most importantly, do practice exams that are timed and don't get frustrated by your score, but get motivated from the learning. NCLEX is like a game, and once you figure out the rules, you're golden!!

Wooohooo! Congrats to all those who made it so far. My best friend took her test today and she got the good pop up. I will be using her books that helped her pass (kaplan & Saunders) so I decided to reschedule for May. Let's do this!!!!!!

P.S. I continued my exercise/healthy eating regimen and lost 15lbs so far. holllaaaaaaaaa! :)

good job its my nurse! and congrats to your bestfriend!!!

Saunders was a great help as was NCLEX4000 questions most close resemble the actual NCLEX. Best of luck on your boards.

Hi everyone! I am new here...after reading several posts about various situations and people struggling along just like me...I realized: Hey! I might not be so alone! I graduated from nursing school five years ago and sat for the NCLEX for first time last week...after a lot of studying. Then, after reading the threads about the PVT (Pearson Vue Trick), I did the trick...according to that: I failed. After contacting my state board, it was confirmed: Failed. :(

I have three small kids and alot riding on this...but gosh, more than anything I don't want to be an "unsafe nurse". YiKeS!

So, I am trying to pull myself up by my boot straps and regroup.

I am hoping to take it again in 45 days. I studied Kaplan. Thinking about changing and trying Saunders. I got a lot of SATA questions-which I suck at. :( Any suggestions?

Just wanted to give you some encouragement, my situation was so similar took the NCLEX in Feb2011 and did the pearson vue trick it said I failed and sure enough I got my yellow envelope that confirmed it I failed, I recently took the test again and passed!! Alot of times we let our nerves take over, the knowlege is there u just have to relax and let your brain take over instead of your nerves. Best of Luck, U can do it!!:nurse:

hey everyone, I am testing on the 25th of this month... I already took the test once and went through all 265 questions and found out i failed.... I am very hopeful this time around please keep me your prayers. I just wanted to know if anyone has the la charity questions and if they can email them to me....I am currently taking hurst and doing questions from the NCSBN website and NCLEX 4000....any last min tips will also be nice.

Thanks

Hey guys! I have some question ,can you help me?

its about thing that confused me .

Nursing assistant can check fingerstick glucose? I found in Kaplan ,it said that we can delegate to nursing assistant.

but last night I found lachartity,it said we can not delegate this job to nursing assistant!

@ sweetangel05

once you understand the rules of NCLEX you are fine. I also took the exam (2X) the first time I panic and the second time around i was much more calm, I was able to Finnish my exam with 75 questions.

study infection control (get it from this website), priority (who do you see first) toward the end of the exam the questions got harder all the (pt) choice for priority seem important. Delegation... so know what you can and can't delegate to. Lachrtity book is great also if you have the Iphone there is an app call DataMonkey Nclex RN quiz for 2.99 .... i spend one week and half on drugs the ones I didn't know I guess. once you understand your pathology of a disease you can figure out the answer :monkeydance: so relax

Could someone please!!!!!! Let me know what we need to know for infection control? Example does any of the isolation precautions require disposable dishes/silverware. Any and all help would be appreciated. Should we just know the spiderman pnuemonic?

i know patients who are under airborne doesnt necessarily need disposable utensils (since its transmitted via air) but droplet precautions is also a form of contact so you need to provide apparatus solely for the patient (e.g. bp set, thermometer) but they say no special precautions are needed in handling for dishes , both disposable or resusable can be used. what else nurses? correct me if im wrong. :)
