Hello, I am currently on summer break between my junior and senior year of nursing school. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions, or knew of any programs that I could use to begin studying for the NCLEX now?
My school utilizes Kaplan. I thought about using the Kaplan Basics book they provided. So far I have been re-reading a couple of chapters in my pathophys book, and also planned to re-read the chapters in my Med-Surg textbooks. Would re-reading these books be too time consuming?
I finished my first year of nursing school with a 3.8, so I am doing decently academic wise. However, I don't really think GPA matters much; I feel like I do not know anything, or feel that I have already forgotten everything I have learned; especially meds!
Thank you all for any tips! Take care.

Hi!! I just graduated nursing school & passed the NCLEX and wanted to give my 2 cents. Honestly, no one in my school studied for the NCLEX until senior year (2nd semester). You definitely can study earlier but you also haven't learned a lot of the material yet. I guess it depends on your school, because my school prepared me well for the NCLEX so I feel I didn't have to study as much.
Rereading those books is NOT necessary please don't waste your time. Practicing more and more questions (and reading the rationales) is a lot more effective and useful!
If you do plan to study early, I highly recommend UWorld. That is the only thing I used to study and I passed my first shot! Though, the summer in between I would try to get some experience instead of studying for the NCLEX. My summer internship really helped me put the pieces together and allowed me to network.

Couldn't agree more. Focus on questions!

Practice questions over and over because you will start to notice patterns but like the first responder above, most of my classmates didn’t start NCLEX prep until almost the end of senior year! Granted, we did have a HESI exit exam that we needed to pass in order to graduate so we focused on that more
