I just took it. 75 Questions. I don't feel like there was one question where I was like, "I Know this!!!" I felt like I was at best giving slightly educated guesses. Every question was so hard and obscure. I was a good student in school, did ALL of the Kaplan review (which was over 2000 practice questions when it was said and done) which indicated I was more than ready.
I just feel like crying now and I wanted to cry while I was taking that test. There were questions with 4 right answers and drugs and diseases I have NEVER EVEN HEARD of ever!
The only thing that gives me hope is that since I got no what seemed to be easy questions, that I answered enough difficult ones correctly and that's why it shut off at 75.
Interestingly, I had not one singe math question, nor put in the correct order question.
Well hopefully I find out Monday or Tuesday...
For those of you who have already taken it...Do you have any good websites or references for study materials??? It seems alot of people had a large portion of infection control on there exam and i don't think my book goes into enough detail and i want to be prepared...Thanks all!!!
I answered five infection control questions correctly just by knowing these mnemonics. I didn't think I would need it...but when I was nervous, it really helped to keep them all straight in my head!

i posted this website some time back. i t is an alphabetical listing of diseases and their transmission precaution (contact, droplet, airborne). i hope they are helpful.
alpha listing http://www.med.yale.edu/ynhh/infection/dislist/intro.html
the main/home page for this website: http://www.med.yale.edu/ynhh/infection/welcome.html
again, i hope they are helpful to you. the alpha listing contains not only the diseases contained in the thread by "yesdog" but many, many others that you could never possibly think of.
When I took the NCLEX early 2008, I had only one pharmacology question, but at least 6 alternative format questions. They were nursing priorities and check all that applied. I was so afraid I messed up the order of the priorities or missed or checked something wrong on check all that apply. If you make mistakes on these questions then entire quesiton is wrong. Some of the questions, I had no idea what they were talking about and had to take an educated guess. My computer shut off at 85 questions. It was so hard waiting a month to get the results, but I passed the 1st time around. I know you will passed, because if your questions were that hard, it's because you really knew your stuff!!!! I will keep my fingers crossed for you, even though I don't think that will be necessary. :wink2: Good Luck!!

I took my state boards "back in the day" when it was all pencil & paper, 2 full days full of mind-numbing text anxiety, complete with MP's standing guard to make sure no one cheated. When I left after the second day of testing, I knew in my gut I had failed. It took about 4-6 weeks back then to get the results back by snail-mail, and rumor had it that if you got a small, business size envelope, it contained your new license. If you got a large manila envelope it contained instructions for re-taking the test in 6 months. I got the manila one. Passing score was 1600, mine was 1580. My son, then 3 y/o, was with me when I got the news, and tried valiantly to comfort me, but when my tears would not dry up in a reasonable amount of time, he got down off the bed and declared, "I'm going to play now. You're too grumpy."
Of course, I went back and retook the exam, much more calmly and self-assured, partly because I knew what to expect, and partly because I figured the worst had already happened, so there wasn't much else to worry about. I did pass the second time, so for what it's worth to all you who are preparing to take it, try hard not to sweat it, and remind yourself it's only a test. You already have what it takes to be a good nurse.
I really loved your story and here is why....
It reveals that no matter when someone sits for Nclex and no matter when and what the circumstances;l in the end we all have the same fears and anxiety. I appreciate your input greatly. I will be honest I just want to take that thing already lol. I have to wait on my school to release those grades !!!!

I was just referring to the length of time you had to wait for your results, that's all :nuke: I would have pulled all my hair out by then LOL
