I took my NCLEX today, actually felt confident, went for an early morning walk and to Jamba. Got there on time and my test shut off in 75 questions. Wish I could be happy about that. Everybody who passed said they either got multiple multiples or a whole bunch of prirotiy. I didnt get any multiple multiples and only a handful of priority. The majority of the questions were basic knowlegde and pretty easy. Nothing too complex. Most people who pass say they think they failed because the questions were so hard they are not sure if they got them right. Well I feel I didnt get a chance to get a harder question. Did anyone ever think they failed because they were getting answers that were too easy. When it stopped at 75, I wanted more questions so bad to prove that I could do it.
If there is anyone who failed at 75 that thought the quesionts were ridiculously easy?
I just cant imagine passing with the level of questions I got.
My phone got turned off today also. I need a miracle. I just wish I could go back and have it be 0800 this morning again.
If anyone has anything remotely positive to say, please help.

Serenity,
We can certainly be MORE than remotely positive about your scenario from what you're telling us. What do we know for sure about this exam? Well, while the number of questions never means you passed or failed for certain, we know that cutting off at 75 does mean that the computer had no difficulty determining pass or fail. If you failed at 75, I doubt that you would have found the questions to be basic or easy. Instead, you would have very likely felt completely confused by some of the material.
While priority questions and multiple-multiples are often regarded as hard questions, I do know people who passed that did not feel like they got very many of these. One of my fellow NICU interns said she made herself physically sick for 3 days waiting for results after her test cut off at 75. But she passed.
Bottom line... now it's over and done. Worst case, you have to try again. But I have a great feeling that everything went just fine. Best of luck!
Thanks ericenfermero, The questions were too easy for me to be baffled and I am not getting much feedback on this thread so thank you so much for your words of enouragement. I cant get out of bed. I just cant understand with all the studying I did how I didnt even get harder quesions. I couldnt of went inthere calmer and confident. Well nothing for me to do now but wait and prepare for the inevitable. Thanks again!!!

Maybe you were just really prepared! I do think that a little bit of luck and a lot of knowledge falls into the NCLEX. I mean if you work on a neuro floor and a lot of your questions fall into drugs that pertain to neuro disorders, etc. the test may seem easier.
If the questions you got were easy, you must have answered them correctly right? You did fine.

It sounds as though you aced the test. Might as well try to relax while you wait for the results. Are you going to work lic. pending while you wait?

Oh Serenity, my heart just breaks for what you are having to go through. I pray your situation gets better very soon.
Now, about the exam. There are very few knowledge level questions on the NCLEX exams. They are just too easy. There is a certain range of difficulty that is used the NCLEX exams. Most of the questions are at an application level or higher. The questions you received are probably harder than you thought. A simple knowledge question may look something like: Which of the following WBC counts is normal? And then there are four WBC counts. The next level above that is comprehension. A comprehension question may look like this: You are screening blood glucose levels for possible diagnoses of insulin dependent diabetes (Type 1, IDDM). Which of the following blood glucose levels would require followup? And then there are four blood glucose levels. The next level of question is the application level. An application level question might look like this: You have received the following information about your assigned clients. Which client should you see first? And then there will be some choices. The next level of question is analysis. An analysis type of question might look like this: You have to move a patient off of your unit. Which would should you move? Patient A with Disease A and lab results B; Patient B with Disease C and lab results D, etc. The next level is evaluation. An evaluation question might look something like this: You have provided care for a patient with such and such disease, using this and that. Which of the following would indicate an improvement in the condition?
This is an extremely simplified version of Bloom's taxonomy as it applies to the NCLEX, but did you get any of these types of questions? I am betting that you did.

I took boards today and had many of the last questions that you mentioned in my 265.
you guys are so awesome for all your support at a time that i needed it the most. well.......i passed............. :chuckle i found out at 2:57 am. yes i couldnt even sleep until i found out. the test seemed pretty easy which tottally confused me and because i was expecting monstrous questions. i guess i just kept thinking it would be so much harder. they werent questions that would try to trick you or anything. i thought for sure i bombed it but i had faith in the lord and thank goodness he had faith in me. . i believe i had angels with me that day or some higher power helping me get through each question.
thanks for all your info nursemomruns, that was a pretty amazing breakdown. and now my family will be fine. thank you for caring.
i feel like my life has just begun and i can finally afford to live decently.
skatebetty - i started kaplan two week program on 1/3/06 and i studied everyday from the kaplan book, kaplan online lectures and services, all of their tests and from the nclex reveiw book endorsed by nsna. oh i also did the cd from nclex made incredibly easy. i averaged about 100-300 test questions daily, with a break of a day inbetween. a little overkill probably but i didnt feel at ease unless i was doing something proactive towards gaining more knowledge. also kaplan tests are way harder than nclex.
so i start working 2/13, the hospital i start at doesnt except ip that is why i was in a rush to get my license.
Yay for you!!!!!!

Well, you did your best already in the exam today, and the best thing for you to do right now is relax and think less of the result for awhile.I know it's too hard,i've been there, but I also know how insane i was during those waiting periods, that there's no time flew by that i didn't think IF ONLY I COULD RE-DO the exam again.Like you,my comp shuts at 75,i thought i failed,i felt so stupid and dumb.I remember crying after the test, bec i feel it's unfair,i wasn't given enough questions to prove something. But well,I pass, luckily.:)
I got i think around 10 or less than 10 select all that apply questions, and lots of priority..and there were questions which i think it's easy, which makes me panicky, and there were questions also that makes me feel it's damn difficult,I cant get the correct answer, even if I'll apply what i've learned from Kaplan course.I've tried to remember all the questions thrown at me,but funny,i can't even remember a single thing,it's a blur!
This is my second try in nclex-rn,the first one,i failed, probably bec i didn't prepare well for that exam,i self-study (feeling genius,huh!)...it took me a month to recover. But i was determined to be a nurse, there's no other occupation that can make me happy but being a nurse,so i give it a second try.On my second try,i took kaplan online course, then re-take the exam again, and well,i've made it!Kaplan is expensive but boy it's worth it.It makes an average person like me to pass at 75.
I just want to share my experience,it's never easy, but just hang in there, and wait for the result.Where did you took your exam?If you took the exam here in CA,you can check the result at their BON web www.rn.ca.gov then click on the permanent license verification. The names of those who pass will,i think, appears 2-5days after the exam,so goodluck. If you're not from CA,i think you can check thru the quick result. My result appears on the 3rd day and i got my license after 10days thru snail mail.
Goodluck and let me know of the result.Godbless!
