  1. Yeah,i do agree with you..it's safer for me as well to go through trainings and anything just to be in a US standard of nursing. So,that rate is more of in the bay area?Hmmm, actually,i just got interviewed today in Tarzana hosp in Encino,CA,and they want me to work with them and joined their NICU team. The funny thing is i am embarrassed to ask about my hourly rate:mad: Guess,i will have to find out about my pay one way or the other, then. I have a permanent visa here in USA now, actually. The reason I asked about hourly pay rate is bec my husband dont want me to commit into anything yet until i'll hear from other offers, but I dont want another offer,i want to work in tarzana hosp already...guess,im just missing my job so much,i dont even care about money, whew!Or should I wait for other offers, gosh, going through interviews just drives me crazy. Thanks for the help!
  2. Im just wondering how much is the minimum hourly rate in NICU when you're a new nurse.I've worked for 6 years back in saudi in NICU but since i dont have a USA experience, the hosp wants to let me undergo some trainings and really to undergo orientation just like a new nurse do.Before i'll sign anything or be commited, could anyone pls help me,what salary to consider for me being a new nurse? Will $35/hr be a minimum salary hourly or is it high already?Pls help asap!!!!!
  3. Think this is an emergency situation,so call the doctor, don't delay!!!!You're through assessing already,so time to implement,right????:wink2: Well,i don't know, but this is what i feel is right to do....tell me if im wrong,im interested to know!
  4. The question is,what kind of preparation do you take?Do you take any review classes at all or just merely practicing those practice test?If you get 70% score, that's already good by kaplan standard..kaplan even required students to get above 65% and they are good to go and take the exam. I took online kaplan course, and it works really well for me.Whatever preparations you have right now, keep it up and dont forget to review the rationale,as well, whether you get the right answer or not, review them and learn how to eliminate wrong answers, that will help you in getting the right answer. I think a maximum of 3 months preparation is enough to make you pass nclex and minimum of 6 weeks. As long as you devote your time in studying and you have the right resources.Memorize the lab values and the meds,it's side effects and health teachings, and learn how to prioritize patients and how to assess. Goodluck!
  5. I used kaplan online course, and it's not free..just go to www.kaplannursing.com and see how much the cost now,bec it depends on the course you will select. It's expensive but it's worth it!!!:wink2: I used the kaplan book as well, but the course is a lot better! They will teach you how to approached each questions, and one thing I liked about online courses is,you can do it over and over again,if you still want more of their lectures, just one click, and there you go!It helps me strengthen my weakeness. Goodluck!
  6. Kaplan is really good,i took their online course, and my comp shuts at 75...I PASS!:) Just remember to put everything you've learned from them in answering the nclex, remember use your critical thinking skills, and take your time in answering, dont rush, take a deep breathe, and be sure to rationalized and eliminate the wrong option, you'll be fine.Godbless!
  7. Yeah,congrats..enough of those tears and anxiety that exma has brought you..you are now officially an RN!Welcome to the real world!Cheers!!!
  8. Well, you are in the right track, just relax esp now that you know you are well-prepared already for the exam.Be confident. And yeah, know your lab values and the meds,it's very important. As long as you know how to prioritize and assess patients, you're good to go to take nclex. Always remember the things you have reviewed. The nclex exam may appear to be very different from those practice test you have done, but as long as you know how to apply your critical thinking skills, then you'll ace it.Goodluck!:)
  9. Goodluck as well...Just be confident and have faith in God that by tue,He will make you an RN!:) Be sure to relax the day before the exam..unwind and rest, don't do some last minute review,it wont help you at all.Sleep early the night before, and be sure you have your ATT and ID with you,ok.We'll be praying for your success!
  10. Goodluck and think positive, you'll be fine. We'll be praying for you. Just be confident, you have studied all this time and i'm sure by now,you are well-prepared and good to go to take nclex-rn exam. Don't take any exam the day before the test,do unwind, watch a movie,be with your friends but be sure to sleep early..prepare your ATT and ID,be sure you'll bring them on the day of your test, take a deep breath, and PRAY,and take the exam... I'm sure you'll ace it,with God's help! Are you taking any review classes in preparation for this exam?Just wondering.
  11. Kaplan is the best,it may be expensive but it's worth it,that is,if you want to take nclex-rn exam.Second choice is labagnoy,i heard they are good as well. But i really recommend kaplan,it makes me so smart that i pass with just 75 questions,to think i considered myself average.Third choice is Gapuz,as well.Whatever you will choose,as long as you devote those 3 months time of preparation just studying...ignore the world, just study,it's worth it.And practice test questions and study the rationales really well, for sure you'll ace the exam. Godbless!
  12. congrats!gosh,my reply is late!!!but congrats..you're now an rn!!!!
  13. Well, you did your best already in the exam today, and the best thing for you to do right now is relax and think less of the result for awhile.I know it's too hard,i've been there, but I also know how insane i was during those waiting periods, that there's no time flew by that i didn't think IF ONLY I COULD RE-DO the exam again.Like you,my comp shuts at 75,i thought i failed,i felt so stupid and dumb.I remember crying after the test, bec i feel it's unfair,i wasn't given enough questions to prove something. But well,I pass, luckily.:) I got i think around 10 or less than 10 select all that apply questions, and lots of priority..and there were questions which i think it's easy, which makes me panicky, and there were questions also that makes me feel it's damn difficult,I cant get the correct answer, even if I'll apply what i've learned from Kaplan course.I've tried to remember all the questions thrown at me,but funny,i can't even remember a single thing,it's a blur! This is my second try in nclex-rn,the first one,i failed, probably bec i didn't prepare well for that exam,i self-study (feeling genius,huh!)...it took me a month to recover. But i was determined to be a nurse, there's no other occupation that can make me happy but being a nurse,so i give it a second try.On my second try,i took kaplan online course, then re-take the exam again, and well,i've made it!Kaplan is expensive but boy it's worth it.It makes an average person like me to pass at 75. I just want to share my experience,it's never easy, but just hang in there, and wait for the result.Where did you took your exam?If you took the exam here in CA,you can check the result at their BON web www.rn.ca.gov then click on the permanent license verification. The names of those who pass will,i think, appears 2-5days after the exam,so goodluck. If you're not from CA,i think you can check thru the quick result. My result appears on the 3rd day and i got my license after 10days thru snail mail. Goodluck and let me know of the result.Godbless!
  14. everyday is a challenge and different for an rn,there's no routine, the only routine is the endorsement time and the checking of equipments!you're mealtime is even different each shift,if you're busy, you can't even eat unlike those working in the office where everything is planned...being an rn is way too different and way too challenging, but boy,i love being an rn! it's rewarding at the end of the day.:)
