NCLEX information -- please read

Let me clear up any misconceptions or bad information that you have.

In order to write the NCLEX exam, you must have a letter called an ATT letter

(Authorization to Test) from the Board of Nursing where you plan on working or get initial licensure. You cannot just walk into a test center and take the exam. Miinimum time for getting this ATT letter is over three months on average for a foreign nurse, and over six months from California.

Interim permits in California are only given out once you have been given an ATT letter, not while they are checking your papers. The interim permit means that everything has been approved, and all that is needed is for you to sit for the actual exam.

It is also quite difficult to get a position offered on an interim permit as a foreign nurse. Every hospital wants to know that you have passed NCLEX before they are going to go to the expense of your petition. And what your speaking skills are like, don't forget the English exams........... :)

Do you have any idea about NY Nclex application? Do you have to pass the local board exam first or you have to be be licensed NUrse first before you can apply for NEWYORL NCLEX? pls? i badly need your advice?

or can I endorse later to New York if i'll choose New mexico as my initial licensure?

Hi, Keira. This is a VERY old thread. Your question has already been answered in one of the threads located right here in the very 1st page of the Int'l forum and most active threads can be found in just the 1st 3-5 pages of the Int'l forum.

I recommend reading Suzanne's Primer and the other threads already started and active regarding NY, CA, NJ, NM, VT and other popular states located in the 1st 3-5 pages (active) of the forum.

I recommend reading those NEW threads relevant to you from the beginning because some of your questions were already answered countless times by the mods and other posters who had experience with it.

Thank you for understanding. :wink2:

I highly recommend reading the sticky Suzanne's Primer thoroughly and the other active threads 1st because your query has been answered countless times already.

Likewise, it is advisable that if you have a question specific for Suzanne you can post it directly to her dedicated thread: Questions for Suzanne4 so that she can easily find it.

Thank you for understanding. :wink2:

Closing this thread. Thank you for understanding. :wink2:
