NCLEX Hurst Review

Published

Hello all...I just graduated Nursing School December 2010. I am taking my Nclex RN boards on Feb. 26th. I am using the Hurst Review and I am about to begin today. I have heard it is great but I would like some feedback from anyone that has used this review.

Also from any of you that have passed the test....ANY ADVICE WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!

Thanks in advance!!!

Sorry for the late reply...

I highly recommend the Hurst review! I was the only one in my grad class that took Hurst ( as I am from USA southern states) I took the online lecture series, the videos were not only informative-but entertaining! I learn by hearing and lose interest in reading. M. Hurst has a strong southern accent which my be a deterent for the NE.

Good luck!!

Hey KarenGN, just found your posting. I also took a Hurst live review the week after I graduated and planned on taking the NCLEX a couple weeks later. The BON had problems with my paperwork and long story short after 5 months cleared me to test. I signed up for a supplemental online review that Hurst offers and studied the videos and text. I went over all material (videos and text about 3 times each) I would take a Qreview test once a week at first then took 2 a week until i had taken all 6. I was scoring higher on the exams everytime and helped the confidence level. I wasnt sure if I was ready come test day but knew I was done reviewing. I took my NCLEX this past Tues. Feb 15 and found out Thurs I passed. Passed with 75 questions. The questions given by the Hurst review I felt were right on with NCLEX very close to the same style. I have read other reviews on the board that disagree, or recommend Kaplan and some others. I am a big believer in the Hurst review. Good luck on your exam, if you follow the videos and text in order and take the Qreview tests I have no doubt youll pass. All the best to you.

Hi,

Just have to say that HURST is the best! I took my NCLEX on the 16th of February (last Wednesday), finished in 75 questions, 2 hours and found out Friday that I passed. I used NOTHING but HURST online review and the HURST NCLEX book. The audio and videos on the website are funny and brilliant in getting you to remember the information. It is worth every dime. I found the NCLEX book (from HURST on Amazon) to be a better synopsis of Medications and of things you just need to memorize than the '5th Day' segment of her online review. She also gives you 6 different online NCLEX style exams on the website which I felt were pretty close in difficulty to what I saw on the NCLEX test last week. I give her materials all the credit for helping me pass in 75. Hope that helps!

All the best to you!

Most of the people who post in the NCLEX forum recommend the Hurst review as one of the better ones available.

add me to the one who will highly recommend it to any fresh and old grads as well as to the first and retakers.

I did the Hurst review and I can't believe I passed with only 75 questions. I highly recommend it to anyone!!

I took the Hurst review and it was AWESOME!! It is better than Kaplan by far. I hate to say that there is no way you won't pass if you take Hurst because that's too definitive but it I'll say that it will be very, very hard to fail if you take hurst review. I took it and passed the NCLEX with 95 questions.

wer can we find that?

im using hurst too but im not sure if im ready to take the exam..my scores with the questions ranges from the 66%-70ish% mostly in the 70ish%..whats the guage for me to know that im ready to take the exam and hopefully pass it? are the scores enough? i will be taking the exam on thursday and im scared to death cos this is my 3rd time to get it. any tips/inputs is highly appreciated. thank you again and good luck to all of us!

Hurst suggests that scoring 84 and above is a good sign that you are ready to take the NCLEX. Maybe you should get a private tutor if Hurst isn't working. Personally, I prepared by watching the videos twice and did questions a lot. I got a CD of questions from a friend of mine that had 3500 NCLEX questions (I didnt do all the questions ?). I also wrote concepts on my bathroom mirror that I wasn't remembering like insulin times and stuff that required straight memorization. This helped. Practicing questions and doing the Hurst program, I believe, is the way to go.
