  1. Sorry for the late reply... I highly recommend the Hurst review! I was the only one in my grad class that took Hurst ( as I am from USA southern states) I took the online lecture series, the videos were not only informative-but entertaining! I learn by hearing and lose interest in reading. M. Hurst has a strong southern accent which my be a deterent for the NE. Good luck!!
  2. I looked up this on Google.....watched the demo. I do not like how you cannot see the baby!
  3. I can tell you I have worked both as well.I currently am working NICU. Its not a cakewalk, you are on your feet at all times.I come home exhausted, There is no room for error -you have to get IVs right, everything has to be exact science, or else the baby will suffer! And you will too! No amount of 'talking' can get you anywhere! Child psyche? Its a great opportunity to communicate with kids who need your help! It is not so physical. And you being the nurse...are the 'boss'. There is no right answer to one pt as all are individual & needs are different. You lose technical skills but you really feel like you have accomplished alot more with these kids! No matter what I was always able to 'talk' my way through any situation. If you have great communication skills, and have overcome hardship in your life-you ought to try Child Psyche. If you want Hi-tech, have mad hands-on skills-go NICU. There is alot more responsibility! Best of luck in your choice! PM me if you like!
  4. Anyone know how/where to buy one? 2nd year student-and my books are so heavy they have bent the frames! Any suggestions? I have been to every dept store. Thanks Rae Ann
  5. Anyone know where I can get these? I learn by listening! Lectures on CDs for NCLEX..anyone? Thanks Rae Ann
  6. I moved from FL to NJ in 1998- as a LPN with all the credentials- and was ****** I could not find a job in a hospital also! Now I am in RN program- will grad May 2009-I have been a LPN for 25 yrs! I do have a hospital job - but it took me 7 yrs>? I always said there was no nursing shortage here! I hope to pass the boards - and get the heck outta NJ! I share your angish!
  7. Do you mean 'the Prentice Hall' pathology book? This careplanning is ridulous- they want scientific rationale with each intervention! They mostly want it quoted from a nursing journal! Help - I am so frustrated!
  8. Ok- we have to do careplans with a scientific rationale (to the celluar level) for each intervention? Like if you turn a patient etc. Something so easy -how do scientifically rationale this?> I have Pathology books - they discuss disease. Anyone have any books that could help>?
  9. Do you have a union? Tell them also!
  10. Pass GO for your BSN- and collect your $200 ! Dont' even mess with LPN - as you could waste this time on BSN!
  11. I have been an LPN for 25 yrs - But since I have moved to NJ - NO hospital jobs! Damn Magnet STATUS! Check in let me know - I am curious. I had alot of jobs in my 25 yrs- Ped-ICU-ER- in FL -OK-TX- but NJ is dried up - even for GNs! I am in RN program- and plan to move to TX after RN. I have a TX LVN license- but couldn't sell my NJ house! So I will be RN in May 2009. I am saddened to see LPN's not utilized! I worked my ass off for 25 yrs - and got half the pay! Did RNs job and mine too! Moving to NJ - forced me to go back for RN!
  12. Honey - I was you....25 yrs ago ! They will not feed a new grad to the wolves. They will help you till you feel comfortable- if you aren't you have to speak up! Nurses are the best people I know!
  13. I am in Cumberland county - LPN going back for RN- anyone else on HERE?
  14. I may go against the grain here - but heres my take. I have been told that having insurance is a liability to have - by Drs & Lawyers. When people suit - they go after the people who have insurance. Just an opinion - unless you work private practice - you are under the umbrella of the hospital. Take it with a grain of salt - but I have 25 yrs experience in hospitals.
  15. Gee sorry to hear this - I have been an LPN for 25 yrs...moved from FL to NJ - NO hospital jobs in NJ! Bur Florida was plentiful...this is SEASON also! I worked Pembroke Pines hosp - while I was there - check the smaller hospitals!
