Ok...I guess I can add to the thread that I passed too

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

I found out today that I passed too...and only thanks to God b/c I had a lot of prayers going up for me. Anyways if I can pass anyone can...and I was the ditziest one in my class...Common sense does not come naturally for me..so if they think i am safe...lets hope I am. This was my strategy and it may not work for anyone..but this is what worked for me...I bought NCLEX made easy...Read like 5 or 6 chapters a day..sometimes 10 chapters a day untill I finished that one..then I had the Saunders book b/c we had to have it for school so after I finished the easy book I popped that CD in (hint## the different conent areas are the same..if you check mark the comprehension, application, and analysis or whatever..it covers the same thing as the rest of the boxes it just categorizes the questions in that way) anyways I sat down the week and a half before the test and just did questions all day long...They say you shouldn't do more than 100 , but I did like 1100 questions one day...I'm a procrastinator and I work best by cramming. Thats how I roll..it may work for some....it may not...thats just how I did it..I did the review where it gives you the answer right after you answer it...no tests for me..I thought that would take longer...Two days before the test I went to a book store and read the whole kaplan review book...lets just say I got maybe 5 questions right in that whole book..The Actual test was a lot like the kaplan...not as hard...but it was over stuff I had no idea about anything...all my answers were guesses..educated guesses..but guesses none the less...Had 75 and it shut off..>Two of my other friends took the test yesterday..I think we all had the same test..is that possible? anyways good luck to those who are taking it...I was prepared to retake it..but I guess I dont have to now...NOW...it's time to sell the nursing books that are taking up space and get some money from them....

Congratulations & good luck on your new career!!

(I think I've read that the quesitons come from a pool of questions. Therefore, you and your friends may have received many of the same.)

i found out today that i passed too...

two of my other friends took the test yesterday..i think we all had the same test..is that possible?

excellent news!!! congratulations!!!:clown:

you very likely had some similar questions. there are between 8000 and 10000 questions from which the exam can pull. some of those are going to sound like the same question. also, good distractors may be used again and again. it is hard to make up those questions!

I Am gonna say " IMPressive" U can finish a book, or take 1000+ cd questions a day... AS IN "WOW"... I will be happy to finish 100 questions a day, too much of that my mind will explode of too much info..

Job well done........:balloons::rotfl:

I was searching the web for the oldest nursing student, and allnurses had a couple of blogs. I want everyone that is 40 or 50 to know that are still really "wet behind the ears" as my mother would say (and love that). I am 67 years old and decided last year I want to be a nurse. By the time I actually can apply to nursing school I will be 68. Many people say that they have applied to my school and have waited more than 3 years. I don't have time for that. I haven't done anything so challenging in years and it came out of necessity. I could not get a job when I changed locations because everyone kept telling me I should relax, retire, stay home, that is so humiliating. There is definitely age discrimination. I applied and wrote letters for three years detailing every reason why I should be the one for the job and my "old face" did me in. These were not high-powered corporate jobs, but executive asst type, right-hand-girl jobs. I just happened into the healthcare field and found it rewarding, not financially, but it was in my soul. I find on the campus for the first time in quite awhile people did not look at me like "what are you doing here." My brother was the first person I told and he said, "you're crazy old woman." My niece just laughed. This was all it took to motivate me.. As far as the school work, there are smart people and smarter people, and I fall in there just fine and I see it is just as challenging for the 20 year old as the 67 year old. But, you gotta want it. smile.png

Welcome to the site and good luck with your plans for nursing school.
