NCLEX test was out of control!!!!!!!!

Nursing Students NCLEX

I took my nclex this morning. Computer stopped at 161. I cried hysterically :scrying: . I really thought I knew more than I did going in. They asked me so many unfamiliar things, I got at least 35 pharmaceutical questions and none that were common like Dig or Lasix or even Beta blockers. I got NO psyche questions, NO diabetic questions, 3 math questions, 3 select all that apply questions, no pictures or diagrams and way way way too many prioritizing ????s. I KNOW I FAILED> Its so frustrating. 3 years of full time school, and about 60 hours of post school studying w/ disks, and nclex books. It figures. This test is in no way shape or form a way to grade someone's competency in the nursing field. I am so disappointed w/ myself and even more the standards the state requires to decide if you will be a good nurse or not. I'll know the verdict friday after 1 pm. Just know this: future takers, just try and take it. I know a few "incompetent" nurses who by the luck of the draw got REAL easy questions and passed at 75 w/ barely any studying at all. I wish I hadn't wasted my time studying and just failed w/ a life instead of failing w/out one.

Hey, cheer up, don't go nutz until you get your results okay?!?! You'll know friday, and even if it's bad news you can always take it again and you'll know what to expect. BEST WISHES AND GOOD LUCK! :)

thanks for the encouragement. I know we need to be competent and all, I just think its asking a little much for anyone to know that much content in such a short period of time. My program was 18 months-strictly nursing stuff. what was yours like?

Well, I went to school for my LPN first, that only took me 3 semesters to finish, I took my NCLEX about month ago... so I've only been a nurse for a month... and I'm going for my RN now... ASN, and that will take me another 3 months.

Did you study with Saunders? I hear that's the best for the NCLEX-RN.

Hey- don't be so hard on yourself. The greatest thing is that you completed the education part of it- this is no easy feat! I am in my last semester and I live in the library. We all know it's not easy- you're still ahead of the game- no matter what you can retake it if you must. And it will be easier the second time around because you will have a basic idea about it all.

It's almost over- relax.

So many people leave the testing center feeling the EXACT same way that you do, far2clever. Just to help you, you aren't the only one who's walked out of there feeling that the last several years of your life has gone done the drain. It's an EVIL test, and there aren't too many people who walk out of there with a huge grin on their face and yelling "I PASSED!! I PASSED!!!" to anyone who will care to listen. Most of the people have your reaction: feeling like you failed miserably, didn't get one right, the last few years of my life are wasted, and they are usually crying about how they are going to feed their families or what are they going to do now.

But take heart: You said that you got a lot of priority questions and that's a good sign: They are the upper level questions. If you got those, you got into the upper rung of questions which is a very good thing.

I know that this is easier said than done, but try to take it easy for the next few days, and don't second guess yourself. You'll have an excellent group of support people on this site who possess the gift of boundless encouragement. Don't give up... let us know how you do as we all are in your corner!!!

Good luck to you and let us know ASAP how you did!

I would like to know if this is true. I am waiting for my results (it's been 7 days), and the majority of my questions were priority. 233 questions - yikes!

why are you waiting for results after 7 days? doesn't your state have a phone number you can call 48 hours after you take them? I know I can call in Michigan tomorrow after 2 pm and know the results from my test yesterday. I am so sorry if you can't find out that way. There is one thing you can write your state boards about implementing for test takers. how are you hanging in there?

...bless your heart! I think we ALL feel the way you feel after taking the N-CLEX, it was the weirdest test I ever took. And I took it in Michigan, in Lansing, 3 years ago. Let us know how you did. What school did you graduate from? I went to Delta College.

henry ford community college. 2 year program. I sware I wish I would've done a BSN program now, I never absorbed ALL that information the way I probably should have. They cram so much into so little time. I am telling myself I failed just so that i won't have a nervous breakdown tomorrow when I find out I did. Expect the worst and hope for the best!!! Isn't that what they say?

I'm in California. We don't have quick results. Some people I know had to wait for 5 weeks. It's killing me.

I have to say I feel the same way as you : :crying2: I felt as if I were just getting used to the computer and the questions and boom it cut off at about 80 something.... I cried my eyes out... I have been crying the past two days.

I have no job ( well one if I pass the boards- out in Arizona but how am I going to get there with no $$$$). And to top things off Im living at home with my mother :crying2: So no job, no money and my mother...

I can completey understand... I will definately say a prayer for you :saint:
