BMCC - Pre Req Class Schedule
Hi there, I am a graduate of BMCC's Nursing Program. Your schedule is ok. You must try to complete all pre-req's in 1 year flat. Summer semester's double up on easy classes if possible ie: English 1,2, Psyche 1,2, Speech is definitely a summer class. The Sciences you should focus on A&P 1 and 2, Micro, Chem. 1 , Nur. Math- You can take 2 Sciences together towards the end of your pre-req's if it comes down to it. But only if you have mostly A's. which you better or you can forget getting into BMCC's Program!! I kid you not! I too went nights and worked full time during the day, and they only have 33 seats. I was number 34 and initially did not get in. This is something a lot of people don't know. They think they will get in, over 500 students apply for 33 seats and only the best of the best get in. After crying for 3 days straight and praying and asking God what to do next? I went to transfer out, and met a former class mate on line getting his transcript. He asked me what did I get in A&P 2, which we took together. I told him I got an "A" but still didn't make it in to the Nursing program because the cut off was 3.68 and My GPA was 3.67 they took the top 33 grades and I was number 34 in line. He said to me - I got it but I'm transfering out- do you want my seat?! I couldn't believe my Luck, I cried right then and there and begged him to come upstairs with me to Mr. Sierra. Long story short I did get in. But it was by the grace of God! So young lady- you Better Get all "A"s if you really want this. Study study study! And if you have all A's and need to take double Sciences, you can go to the Science Director and get special permission. I had to do that because it was going to be my last class and I didn't want to wait another whole semester to apply for nursing. Good Luck to you. I hope my advice was helpful. AA

NCLEX test was out of control!!!!!!!!
Hey cheer up, my best friend and study partner took the LPN- day before yesterday and she felt like she didn't do that well either, she started questioning all the time we spent studying in the library. She just called me screaming that she passed! I'm soooo happy for her. And even though it was not the RN exam, she still felt horribly bad and it was all for nothing - because she passed. I suppose it is a process of sorts. Don't worry, I'm sure it will be fine.

The AANA, the ASA, and the SDN
I say nay- this is not true. They are fighting the CRNA’s, and they are going to whomever they need to to present their argument in order to do so. I know because my older sister is a Nurse Anesthetist- and this has long been a worrisome topic for her and to my family. The Doctor’s argument is that the CRNA’s are causing them to loose money and it is not fair to them that they had to go through eight years of college and then do a residency before they could make these monies. Where as we Nurses only had to do a fraction of the time in school and still come out making a decent living. I feel that this is just greed on their part. Do they actually think that we will take every patient away from them- and that they won’t get their fare share? That is ridiculous! There are to many other pertinent issues that we all need to worry about. How about safety for the Nurses and the Doctor’s? Or what about the Nurses being over worked and the Hospitals understaffed? I just thought we were in the business to save lives-Because we care. A. Ahee,SN

NCLEX test was out of control!!!!!!!!
Hey- don't be so hard on yourself. The greatest thing is that you completed the education part of it- this is no easy feat! I am in my last semester and I live in the library. We all know it's not easy- you're still ahead of the game- no matter what you can retake it if you must. And it will be easier the second time around because you will have a basic idea about it all. It's almost over- relax.
