My NCLEX day, the PVT indicates I passed and here is what I did

Nursing Students NCLEX

Ok. I had 75 questions and the machine turned blue. I, of course, freaked out and the only thing that kept going through my head was 'wait . . . I am not done . . . . please give me another chance . . . ' I even called the person over to tell her there was a problem - she said I had to take the questionaire and I was done, but I wanted to take more questions because I knew I screwed some of them up. But when I got home (shaking) I took a few deep breaths (I think I held my breath the whole way home) and tried to sign into Pearson - couldnt check the trick yet. So, I waited an agonizing 30 minutes (yes agonizing) and checked it again and my results had been sent so I tried to reregister and guess what (as if the title of my post wouldnt tell you) - I couldnt reregister!!!! :yeah:

So, when I was studying I was checking this board several times a day for the tricks and what to study so I could pass the NCLEX-RN. What I found helped me ALOT was:

  • the sticky thread that is about throwing random facts (lots of good stuff to review, especially the precautions and diseases that went with the precautions)
  • I practiced a variety of questions and books
  • I downloaded the kindle for PC and bought a couple of NCLEX books for 10 or 15 and just lined up a blank Word Document next to the kindle and went to town on the questions
  • I bought the actual Saunders book (great for review but the CD questions I didnt like)
  • I downloaded Prioritization, Delegation etc on the kindle and did all the questions in there (GREAT book - make this one the last book you do questions with)
  • I downloaded Kaplan's review on the Kindle (GREAT questions - this one is great for helping you disect the questions - I didnt think I would need help with this but turns out to be a great review AND it was free)
  • I also downloaded Exam Cram (I wasnt too impressed with this one but it was more questions and that doesnt hurt)
  • I had the NCLEX 4000 - I used this through out school and it is wonderful - probably my favorite cause it is quick and to the point.
  • I downloaded the NCLEX 3500 (it is free on the internet - just google it) it was a great option to see new questions.

Now, having said all that, I was kinda used to SATA questions. We had them in school - I usually would get half right and half wrong - so I didnt invest in a book that was directed toward those types of questions. If you havent had those types of questions before - I definitely would practice those types of questions (there are options to answering alternate questions on the NCLEX 4000 and the NCLEX3500).

I hope that helps everyone who is still studying.

I am going to now relax and not think about the NCLEX anymore tonight.

Good luck to all of you!!!

BTW, I also prayed on my way to the testing center.

CONGRATS!! What kaplan review did you download?

Thank you guys! I downloaded the Kindle for PC and the 2010 Kaplan Review is free from Kindle/Amazon. I loved the fact that I could download all those books and just sit at my laptop. I liked the fact that I could have the books that minute with out having to wait for them to ship (and they are cheaper). I dont do well trying to study out in public (like the bookstore, library or coffee shop), I am too easily distracted.

The person who asked for my Saunders, I already gave it to one of my classmates who is studying for the NCLEX and taking it next month. I am sorry! :-)

Good luck to everyone!

I am sorry! I just double checked the Kindle list of books and it isnt available any longer. I am sorry for giving you false information. I know these books are expensive but if I could only buy two things to study from, I would suggest the Prioritization, Delegation book and the NCLEX 4000 questions. If you can, I beleive the 3 week Kaplan review would definitely be worth it.

CONGRATS!!! i took mine this morning and i wasnt as patient as you lol... i tried the trick on my way home via my phone .. GOT THE GOOD POP UP YEAH!!!!! :yeah::clown::jester::lol2::p:D

Congratulations!!! Now if only the quick results would hurry up so we can start telling people that we passed! I keep checking the Board of Nursing for my state just incase so that it can be official!!
