CA BRN and NCLEX issues

Nursing Students NCLEX

I received my permission to test from the CA BRN about three weeks ago. Also with it was a letter stating that they hadnt received my transcripts. I called the Ca BRN and they stated that I needed to contact my school. I contacted my school and they said they had mailed my transcripts December 9th 2011. I took my NCLEX RN January 6 2012. I was just wondering what I should do next? The BRN stopped accepting phone calls because they are so busy and in undated with calls. But I need my license ASAP. I have a job that starts Feb 6th and it requires a license. Not just an IP, I have that. Also when I took the test it was 75 questions and I got the "good" pop up. I just don't know what to do because both places are saying to contact the other. And both the BRN and my university are far from where I live now. My classmates have already got their licenses. Help is appreciated

Call your school again, request that the transcripts be resent, explain the urgency of the situation, offer to pay for overnight service. Find out from the BRN if they will accept sealed transcripts from you in person, and if so, then make arrangements to hand deliver a set. That way you will know that they got them. However, I do not believe the BRN accepts them from the applicant, but it doesn't hurt to ask. Good luck.

Thanks! I should try that. I am on it like white on rice tomorrow!!

I sure hope this turns out for you. Would hate for you to lose out on that job opportunity. No telling when you might get another job offer. Good luck again.

So can you sit for your NCLEX RN without the BRN having your transcripts? I got my ATT on the 22nd but a week before that I got the same letter asking for my transcripts. I'm just wondering cause I took my test on Dec 27th, got the good pop up, and still haven't seen my name come up on the BRN website.

I am guessing you can because they let me as well, but I know they won't issue the license without final transcripts with posted degree.

yes you can take your test without the board having your transcripts. they just need to have everything else including a roster from your school. they will not release your official results without the official transcripts!

Hi Jocelyn

how long it took to get your ATT? and have you done any Pead or Women clinical placement when student in the uni? as I did not have any such types placements. further more how long you been studying for NCLEX? and guidence regards to books and material is appreciated. I have plan to get registration for CA .

From the time I applied to the time I received my ATT was about one month. In school I did have rotations in peds and maternal health. For studying, I read the Kaplan RN NCLEX books. I got them from my local library, so they were free! I also used an app call Saunders RN on my iPhone to complete about 1000 practice questions. I also completed Kaplan's practice questions and questions through ATI... Which put me at a total of 2000 practice questions. When I first started doing them, I used rationales and then did them without. I also made a list of important lab values to study. I studied for about 2 weeks before the test, but I am a good test taker. People usually need more time to prepare

Thanks for the Reply Jocelyn, I spoke with the BRN this morning and they do not have my transcripts yet. That helps a little as I was getting nervous cause my name hadnt shown up yet. My school is mailing them tomorrow.

You can get thru to the BRN on the phone btw. Just keep hanging up and redialing when you get that message about not taking calls at this time

Yes I had success this morning as well! :) I called ad they did have my transcripts. They said it just takes about 3 weeks for things to get sorted out of the mail room. So now I just have the pain staking wait to get my "official" results so I can keep my job! Good luck let me know if you have any other questions.
