NCLEX in 12 days... Kaplan Scores need advice..scared confidence is low..

Published

My exam is in 12 days, honestly I am tired of studying..but I know I have so much more to cover. I am using Kaplan and have made flashcards to study with lab values and certain diagnostic things I need to memorize. I am stressed. My Kaplan Scores are Diagnostic 61.1% Q1=68 Q2=65.8 Q3=55 (ouch!) Q4=62 Q5=63 Q6=63 Q7 will do this upcoming saturday..6 hours so not looking forward to it. Qbank I have done 81% of it with and overall average of 62%. I need some advice! I don't feel confident at all. Help! Thanks.

From what I have seen on this site, your scores are where they need to be. That's good news! You need to work on your confidence. How about trying a different test bank and see how you feel? I used http://nursing.slcc.edu/nclexrn3500/mainMenu.do and found these questions were most similar to those on the NCLEX. This site has a lot of SATA and priority questions, you will have a lot of those on your test.

Remind yourself that you graduated the nursing program, that's an incredible achievement. You know the information.

When using the website you will occasionally get a message that says Forbidden Access. Just refresh the screen a couple of times and everything will come back. Or go on in the morning or later in the evening. I emailed Lippincott about it and they said it happens when the server is overwhelmed. A lot of students are using the site. After having taken the NCLEX I can honestly say those questions were the most beneficial.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Thank you so much for responding. I will definitely take a look at the website. I want to get this exam over with on the first try because it exhausting. Honestly I took a alternate exam on Kaplan and it has 35 select all that apply which I am not good at. I really hope I don't get much of them on my test because I am always selecting either one less or more which makes it all wrong.

I had at least 25 SATA on my test and others here have stated they had 35 or more. Definitely practice them. I don't think any of us do really well on them but the more you see on your test the better you are doing. You actually want to have those bad boys! And priority questions. Here's an example of one I got. Obviously I do not remember the actual question:

A nurse has just come on shift, which patient will she see FIRST? (They do capitalize the key word)

1. A 59 year old man with stable angina.

2. A 17 year old with Type 1 diabetes and a glucose level of 75.

3. A 62 year old woman fresh from the cath lab. (Kind of made that one up)

4. A 26 year old man with a C3 fracture and a sweaty forehead.

i am in same situation where your are now. mine exam 14 days i have kaplan too. i am studying hard last 1 month. i think anxiety taking over now .my score was on Q 1 73%. Q 3 70% Q 6 265 ques.72.5%. so i thought i am good in kaplan . so i will do rest of QT just before the EXAM. then i got NCSBN review i am having below 60%. i am nervous too. so i stop doing that because NCSBN making me hopeless. so i came back to kaplan for Q 2. 56%. heart is broken now. i just want take break 2 days off study. SATA is always my problem too. always get incorrect with [ONLY ONE] miss one or extra one.

so i can just encourage you try your best. if we have good luck may be we can have those ques. the one we know .

i m just like u guys .... just not there yet ... i hav just done the diagnostic test n got 61% there .... i hope u guys do well ... i get encouraged by reading sucess stories here .... keep updating guys :)

Davi- Yes we have to keep one another encouraged we are taking it around the same time. Don't get down because of your grade try to stick to one NCLEX prep and master it then move on. Kaplan to me is great and I believe the questions are challenging.

Dixya- Good Luck are you attending the Live class or Online? I enjoyed the class I did it online. I had very supportive people in my online class and the teacher was awesome. When are you thinking about taking it?

Good luck to us all.

St.Claire-Ok I honestly do well with these type but the SATA are my problem. I need to focus on them right now trying to finish up QBank will do QTrainer 7 on saturday will update you guys its 265 questions 6hrs long...ugh not looking forward to that. For the question you posted the priority would it be the C3 Fracture and a sweat forehead-in my mind I am thinking autonomic dysreflexia. The cath patient and Type 1 diabetes would be my next choice. You are so sweet thanks for giving me advice. I am freaked out one minute confident when I do well on my Qbank and then the next I am scared just an emotional rollercoaster. I am trying to control my emotions because I still have time. Pray for us! Thanks!!

Yes! Autonomic dysreflexia is life threatening. I posted the question to give you an example of the priorities. You have to think what would be causing those things. Believe me, when I sat down to my test my heart was pounding out of my chest, someone behind me was typing 200 words per minute for whatever test he was there for and I felt like I would not be able to concentrate. I put in my ear plugs and things started to fall into place. When I left I wanted to throw up.

You will do really well. You know this stuff!

P.S.

Everyone sucks on the SATAs. Just practice them.
