First off, this is my second time taking Nclex-Rn. I took it once before and it went all the way to 265! I solely studied Saunder's and the flash cards that went it. Well i walked out feeling horrible and sure enough i failed.
Well fast forward to today. I decided that if i couldn't pass with that huge book then i needed to try something else. So this time i signed up and did the online Hurst review. I did not know everything from Hurst like they say you have to, however, i feel as though it gave me better understanding in content areas that i was lacking in. My Q reviews were: 91, 87, 92, 98, 96, and lastly 93. I also decided since Hurst is not a question bank review that i wanted extra questions to help me see if i was actually gaining a better understanding. So, i purchased PDA by Lacharity and it helped so much. My scores were anywhere from 65-87%. It really helped me understand "who would you see first" types of questions. I also had a little app on my iphone called Nclex Mastery which was also awesome!
Well after all that studying, my computer screen went blue at 79 Qs. I didn't know exactly how to feel. I kind of felt "at peace" bc i knew it was over. I didnt know if i passed, but i was so glad it was just over. I ended up having 15 SATA, 3 Drag and Drop, 1 EKG, and all the rest were multiple choice.
Ive been dreading the PVT bc last time when it went to the CC page my heart was broken. I checked it today...probably 8 hours after my test, lol. I got "Our records indicate that you have recently scheduled this exam. Another registration cannot be made at this time."
I know thats a good sign, but I WILL be paying for the quick results on Sunday! Keep me in your thoughts bc i am so ready to join the RN profession! I know there are some wonderful ladies and gentlemen out there!
Honestly I just used their med sheets to review. And I did questions from lacharity and nclex mastery. I didn't study meds too hard. I kind of just did an overview ( like prils, lols, and sartans are bp meds). I didn't really study side effects and honestly I only had one on the nclex. I would just do an overview and you'll do great!
I too did Hurst as well as Kaplan, about 60% of their qbank and all of the question trainers. I did questions on Nclex Mastery App all the time and I did up to Ch. 12 of the Lacharity PDA because of time running low. The only other thing I did was the Lippincotts Alternate Format App which was also very useful, after all of that study material I thought the actual Nclex was pretty easy and very straightforward! I felt very prepared mostly from Hurst for content and Kaplan for strategies! The Lippincotts and PDA was a very nice plus for SATA and Priority type questions. I had about 5 medication questions and only 1 calculation! Don't stress too much about the actual medication, but study the categories and what's important about them and learn the stems as Heather suggested and I think you will do fine!
I hope that you pass! I just took the NCLEX today. I got the blue screen after 75 questions. It is now 10 hours later and I received the PVT "good pop-up" as well. But, I am still so very nervous. What state are you from @HeatherLeonard? I live in PA, so I can go online to my state nursing website on Monday; if I pass, my license number should be posted. Good luck to you and everyone else that a waiting for their results! Congrats, to all newly licensed nurses also!
