Nclex in canada jan 5 2015: Let's meet here

Hello everybody,

I hope you all had a great holiday....I did! I also had to study most of the time.

Tomorrow January 5th 2015 will be the first time NCLEX will be administered in Canada, how excited are you?

This purpose of this thread is to identify with all candidates who are preparing for this exam (Both Canadian graduates and Internationally educated nurses like myself). I have searched for a similar thread but found none as I don't want to believe I am in this all by myself. This is a place to share our hopes and expectations, preparation strategies, test dates, celebrate our successes and encourage each other and every other thing in between!

I am using Kaplan Online review, Saunders Comprehensive NCLEX-RN 6th Edition, Pearson Comprehensive Review for NCLEX-RN, Prioritization, Delegation and Assignment (La Charity), NCLEX Success, NCLEX 3500, I am planning to purchase 5 week pass for the NCSBN, also, I am practicing questions from lots of online sources. I study for 8-10 hours a day!

If you are also preparing for the NCLEX please share your preparation strategies so that we can all learn.

Thanks

Hello there again!

i was confused, yes I know crne is not available anymore. Thanks justbeachynurse! Btw, is there anybody here who have taken the current cca already? It's all practical right? There are no written tests? Was it hard? I have not read anything related to 2015 cca or any related forum. I want to keep in touch with fellow nurses here in manitoba also! Thanks!

CCA (certified care assistant)? Practical? well I guess that will depend where you take it here in NS it is a written exam as all practicals must be passed whilst doing the course

JustBeachy has it correct. It's essentially the same thing as an SEC. Beeybeeh, the assessment is to see if your work experience has helped to fill gaps in education. The examiner(s) will present you with a patient care scenario; you're expected to work through the scenario as if you were working as a nurse with a patient. They assess your nursing process, your understanding of the problem the "patient" resents with, your knowledge of nursing care for a "patient" with that problem and how well you meet the ethical requirements for that "patient's" problem. There may or may not be some documentation exercises to assess documentation skills.

Hie all,

i took the nclex on jan 5 2016. Sources used were Saunders: awesome for content, read it cover to cover answered most of the end of chapter questions and it really helped me gather all the knowledge needed for the nclex.i

also used u world, lacharity and ' prioritization, delegation and management of care' by Hargrove huttel and kathryn Colgrove they are absolutely necessary sources for the nclex.Read the rationales because although the questions are tough, the rationales help to prepare for the Nclex.

I finished in 75 questions in 1hour 50 minutes.I must say that the exam is challenging and requires a strong content base which Saunders provides, as well as practicing questions.

Hi everyone,

I just graduated this April here in Canada and i'm looking to take my nclex in July. For those of you who have taken the nclex. Are the lab values presented in the exam in American or Canadian (or both). I would really appreciate if someone would let me know this info. Thanks
