Nclex in canada jan 5 2015: Let's meet here

Published

Hello everybody,

I hope you all had a great holiday....I did! I also had to study most of the time.

Tomorrow January 5th 2015 will be the first time NCLEX will be administered in Canada, how excited are you?

This purpose of this thread is to identify with all candidates who are preparing for this exam (Both Canadian graduates and Internationally educated nurses like myself). I have searched for a similar thread but found none as I don't want to believe I am in this all by myself. This is a place to share our hopes and expectations, preparation strategies, test dates, celebrate our successes and encourage each other and every other thing in between!

I am using Kaplan Online review, Saunders Comprehensive NCLEX-RN 6th Edition, Pearson Comprehensive Review for NCLEX-RN, Prioritization, Delegation and Assignment (La Charity), NCLEX Success, NCLEX 3500, I am planning to purchase 5 week pass for the NCSBN, also, I am practicing questions from lots of online sources. I study for 8-10 hours a day!

If you are also preparing for the NCLEX please share your preparation strategies so that we can all learn.

Thanks

Hi Signorina,

Have you taken the Nclex yet? I'm wondering how you like the Kaplan online review? I'm planning on purchasing on demand review by Kaplan. I also have Saunders, La Charity, and test strategies by Kaplan. How long have you study before taking the Nclex? I'm taking it in June 2015, but I'm finding very hard to study right now as I'm on my final practicum (I'll be done on April). Any advice is kindly appreciated :)

Update: I passed. The resources are great.

Yay!!!! Congratulations!!!! How long it took to get the results?

Any input you can give us?

Congratulations again!!

It only took 24 hours for the result to be available from the nursing Board. They are very efficient.

Take study for NCLEX very serious. Have a plan and follow it, set aside time for study and be consistent. Know your content and learn the strategy to answer NCLEX questions, especially higher level questions which are above passing standard.

If you or any other person need more help or advice you can PM, I will be available to assist.

I wish you all the best.

I'm not exactly sure how to PM Signorina but I would like to know what books you found the MOST helpful! Also how many months did you study for (and hours in a day). Please if you have any resources you are willing to share pass them along! My exam is in June 15 I'm still in my last year and plan to write it after graduation

Did u pass??

Yes. You can pass too!

Congratulations signorina *belatedly though*.

I see you are Nigerian. Did you take your exam in Nigeria or in Canada?

Hello everyone! I'm new here! I'm from Winnipeg. I'm planning to take crne but I'm just confused if I can use Mosbys review for nclex exam? Can somebody please enlighten me? Can you suggest good books to read in preparation? Thank u! Let's keep on updating please!

You cannot take the CRNE. The last test was October 2014. The NCLEX -RN started in Jan 2015. It depends on your learning needs and knowledge base as to which prep material is best. It's not one size fits all.

Congrats all but just wondering don't know if this is too detailed to ask but are the questions about medications very detailed or can you have a general understanding about meds and get away with it?

Hello there again!

i was confused, yes I know crne is not available anymore. Thanks justbeachynurse! Btw, is there anybody here who have taken the current cca already? It's all practical right? There are no written tests? Was it hard? I have not read anything related to 2015 cca or any related forum. I want to keep in touch with fellow nurses here in manitoba also! Thanks!
