Navy NCP FY 2019

Published

Hello,

Is anyone out there applying for the Nurse Candidate Program for FY19? I just started working on my packet last week, after I got my acceptance to an ABSN program. Started this forum for us to commiserate, share stats, and see other people's experiences while applying to the program.

One more question, are those the only hospitals you can get stationed at? What are the chances of my going to Spain? Lol í ½í¸†

Hello to all! I was wondering if anyone here had any helpful advice when it comes to the Interviews. I am almost done with my packet, my recruiter said I should be getting interviewed this upcoming week. I am very excited, yet nervous at the same time. Has anyone here completed their interviews yet? if so, how were they? any piece of advice would help! Thank you and best of luck to everyone!

You would be categorized as FY 2019.

@j6doll, I read your private message, but unfortunately I can't respond to the conversation because I've been so inactive on my account lately. If you message me some form of contact, I will reach you there.

It's not impossible. A NCP recipient I know was shipped to Japan for her starting station. I've never heard of anyone going to Spain or Italy through their first few years as a Navy nurse, but of course anything could happen.

HELLO ALL!

I live in Maryland and will be doing a Dual Enrollment Program with a guaranteed spot in the University of Maryland's School Of Nursing in Baltimore. I can be a UMSON student while completing the ADN program at my affiliated community college. I have a strong GPA (3.9), a load of individuals from all walks of life for strong LOR, intense fitness and medical field background. Leadership and volunteering is also great. I'm petitioning to the programs after I take my TEAS next week. I'm assuming I will be a part of the NCP FY20. Is this highly competitive as far as timing and when you complete everything. Also, will I be medically examined at Walter Reed for the entire process, and who covers that expense? (sorry if that is a stupid question)

Hi! Glad to see a fellow Marylander on here! I am starting the BSN program at UMSON Baltimore on Monday (completed my prereqs at UMD college Park). Are you starting at UMSON next fall semester?

I completed my medical part 1 at Walter reed. I did not have to pay anything nor do I believe anything needed to be covered by insurance. I believe the federal government/Navy covers the cost of the medical exams. I had to do medical part 2 at Indian Head because Walter Reed didn't have any available appointments for me to complete it before the application due date.

To give you a timeline of my experience, I finished at UMD in late May, met with my recruiter in mid June, completed my medical appointments by the end of July, and completed my interviews in August. All paperwork was completed when I met with my recruiter and online via email. I believe in general it's a competitive program, a lot is riding on GPA since this is a program for college students. From what others have said, it seems FY19 is "slow" so far. I think they accept about 64 students for FY19 but I don't know the national average number that will apply.

Message me if you have any questions about nursing at UMSON since I'm starting there on Monday! :) good luck with your TEAS!

HI! I applied this year and I am waiting for my response. I just made a group request to the FB page :)

I also have a kit in for NCP fy2019. This is a second career for me, background in business, MBA. No prior service (though I am an Officer (now veteran) spouse and lived his military career for years). I understand board is in session now. Results by Nov 15. Good luck everyone!

Hello! I am looking into apply for NCP. I had my heart set on the Air Force NECP, but was just turned down the chance to apply due to career field manning. I have early acceptance to two nursing programs -UMD and UCF. I am wondering if I would be able to start my kit while on active duty toward the final months before separation. If anyone has a similar experience I'd love to know more about that process!

please let me know if you are interested in NCP 2019 or 2020. The Navy has 75 total scholarships and I help people with there applications. I can give advice and give you all the info you need to apply or see if the program is right for you.

Are there age preferences or age maximums to the NCP program? Is volunteer experience required (even if you work full time)?

The age cutoff is 41 but I know for FY19 a lot of people that applied who were close to that age were not accepted. And volunteer experience isn't required but would probably boost your application
