Navy NCP FY2016 Applicants

Published

Hi!

I noticed there wasn't one for the FY of 2016, and I start my package on Monday to be sent to the boards August 1st. (My recruiter told me the earlier the better). So same thing as the last thread, this will be an area to calm nerves and answer questions. Good luck to all who apply, or are thinking of applying!

Well, seems like I'm the only one applying for 16 currently who also happens to be on this website. So I guess I'll just update if anyone is looking at this thread lol. I had a meeting with my recruiter about two weeks about and got more information and my application started. I was told that there should be about 70 or so spots for this year, and there is a chance that they may open up early, so the sooner I can get my package done, the better. So far I have two references down, and 6 coming in. I'm having a little trouble on my motivational statement though, because i'm not sure if i should just type one giant paragraph or if it should be in essay format. So if anyone has any tips I would gladly appreciate it! As for everything else, I'm slowly getting the checklist done! I'll try to update every week or so.

Is this for graduating BSN in 2016 or is this for starting your program for NCP while still in school? I need to know if I should be getting a package together now.

Well I graduate in 2016 and I'm starting my package now for the fall.

Is it just a good rule of thumb to start your package when your two years from your BSN completion?

From what I was told by my recruiter as long as you have 12-24 months left of the program and you've been accepted (with an acceptance letter to the program). You can start your package. The reason I'm starting so early is because according to my recruiter, they'll be accepting packages starting August 1st and may open it up earlier.

I actually am about to sign my contract this weekend for NCP FY2016. I started my application process back in August of 2013 and made it into the November board! Applying in August will give you a much better chance of getting in. They only accepted 5 people from 2016 this past board, but the next one will be opened to a lot more people!

So I'm doing a research paper on military nursing and how it has changed and ran across your thread so I had to join! I just got accepted into the BSN program at Mizzou and start in the fall. I will start my packet monday for the NCP! I already served 6 years of Active Duty with the Army so at least I have an idea of what I'm getting myself into! ha My BSN program has a "quick" option where I can go to school next summer and I will graduate December 2015! Looking forward to seeing how your process goes!

That's awesome! I'm not too far from Mizzou actually! (withholding my school for privacy reasons). So far everything has been going smoothly, I have MEPS in about two weeks, and I'm just waiting on two more references, after that all I'll have are the interviews! Hoping everything keeps going smoothly, and maybe the boards will open up before Aug 1st. :)

MEPS is FUUUUUUUUUUUUUN! lol not really.... i had to go 4 times before I passed. Do you have to have so many references for the packet? The recruiter is coming down here soon for me to start on the packet. I put in a Green to Gold Packet a few years back but wasnt accepted, otherwise I wouldnt be doing this...

Sorry for the super slow reply, I've been bombarded with tests and finals. I was told I needed 5 references (3 work, 2 professors) and if I was unable to get a work reference, replace them with a character reference. 5 was the minimum I needed, but I was also told I could get more than 5, so I figured 3 professor references, 1 work (all I could get), and 3 character references would serve me some good.

Your in an accelerated Nursing degree beccawigg? Can you just take more than the standard 12 credits a semester to try and speed it up? (15 - 18 credits) or more?

Iv never actually asked my nursing department here if that would be possible because a large portion of the BSN is online. I suppose it would be more possible since it is online but I figure I would ask some others here if they can speed up the nursing degree process.
