Hello all! I have been avidly following previous topics about the NCP program and I wanted to start one for those of us who have recently submitted a kit for the NCP program for FY2015. I'm in the Chicago area and my kit is currently being combed over by a processor then will be shipped out for the boards- which aren't convening until Novemeber (according to my recruiter), since they wanted to have more applicants. Hopefully this will be an area to calm nerves and answer questions. Good luck to all who apply, or are thinking of applying!
I asked my recruiter if the recommendation for selection typically leads to final selection, and he said that there's a 99% chance that it will. So, I'm just holding onto those words, hoping they're true! I won't feel that that it's real until I have the notice of final selection and a contract. Haha! Them not having numbers definitely makes me nervous, but the rec for selection is one step in the right direction. It doesn't seem "for sure" yet, but my recruiter seems confident. Praying he's right! Hopefully that gives you some confidence! Going with what he said is less stressful than considering the alternative. Haha.
I was sent an info sheet to fill out (home of record, parent's addresses, who is to get my money if I am to die, etc) and asked to send a letter of good standing from my nursing school and transcripts from this last semester. This was all asked for on 12/20, but since school took forever to get transcripts together and a letter of good standing I just got it all sent out a week ago. My recruiter said it all has to be submitted before commissioning paperwork can be drawn up
Talked to my recruiter today and she said there is still no date on when final word will be released which is when we will get the 'ok' to commission. She said they said last year they didn't allow anyone to commission until May, and she isn't sure if they will do the same thing this year
I don't think it will be and neither does she. If we were recommended she pretty much said you're definitely unofficially in. Just gotta make it through school now. I just started my accelerated program and I can't tell how hard it's going to be. I'm definitely ready for patho to be over though.

I was hoping we'd sign this month too. Looking forward to that day! My recruiter did say one applicant swore in, but that individual was a previous applicant who got in after being an alternate.
I've also heard that the stipends don't begin immediately after signing. I think I read it on AllNurses. I'm just glad I'll be a nurse in the Navy upon graduation!
