NAU Nursing Fall 2016

Published

I thought I would start this blog for the NAU spring 2016 nursing program application cycle!

I take the Kaplan exam on March 11th and the application is due during spring break. (March 15th)

Just want to know who else is out there apply this cycle :)

Oh, I was very surprised because I would expect them to send letters out at the same time. Congratulations, though! Hopefully Flagstaff works out. :D

Yeah me too, especially because the deadline was the exact same. I think it is taking longer due to all the campuses there are for NAU.

Thank you :D I'm very excited, even though its not my number 1 choice.

Yeah, I also heard from an advisor that around 180 people applied this semester. It's understandable that it would take them some time to figure everything out. And yeah! Even though it is not your first choice, at least you have a backup choice if Flagstaff doesn't work out.

How many seats does you campus have for the nursing program? I know here in Yuma it's 10 seats. I wish people would talk about it so I'd know my chances haha I'm not even sure how our campus is scored compared to everyone else's because we are such a small campus:down:

Flagstaff campus accepts 30 people, but I think it is also the most competitive campus. I know a pretty decent amount of information regarding the Flagstaff program from constantly talking to my adviser, so feel free to ask any questions!

Or you would like more people to talk about the Yuma campus? Sorry, I think I misunderstood your message.

We just got a new advisor, so I really don't know anything about the application cycle. That statement was just generalized, people here in Yuma do not talk about it at all! It is so hard to find any information about the kaplan or how they pick applicants.

If you have any information that isn't already in the thread, I'm all ears :)

I know that they accept 30 people. My advisor told me that approximately 180 people applied this semester and, in the past, only about half who apply actually qualify. Your Kaplan science score is what determines whether you qualify or not and I think the cutoff this cycle was a 65% so if you got that or above, you're good. :) I've also spoken with a few people that are currently in the program and one of them got in with a 65 in science, mid 80s overall, and a 3.7ish GPA, just in case you wanted to compare stats with someone who DID get accepted! One of them also said she got her acceptance letter on April 17. Hopefully, we will get ours around that time, but it all just depends!

Does that just depend on the area? Like for instance, since I'm in Yuma are our scores going to be different than those in Flag and Tucson? My advisor couldn't answer that question :/

Thank you for the information though, it was very helpful :)

I would assume the cutoff would be consistent throughout all locations, since they are all through NAU, but I'm not entirely sure... That's a really good question! I can check with my advisor and see if he knows and I'll let you know if I find out. :) how did you do on the Kaplan?

That would be awesome!

I did okay. My overall wasn't as great as I wanted it to be, I was really unprepared for the writing portion. My overall was a 71 and my science was a 75:dead: I haven't taken any bio in almost 3 years. Unforunately, since no one around here talks about the Kaplan, I more or less went in without any prior knowledge about it.

Oh :( yeah, I found a couple YouTube videos but they pretty much just reiterated what the document online says about it. This is my second time applying and my first time I did really bad! I think you did very well, considering the circumstances. :)
