NAU Nursing Fall 2016

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

I thought I would start this blog for the NAU spring 2016 nursing program application cycle!

I take the Kaplan exam on March 11th and the application is due during spring break. (March 15th)

Just want to know who else is out there apply this cycle :)

Thanks for the update:) First semester so far has been great. Met my best friend in the program off of this blog. My advice to you is please wait to buy books and online software because it has really confusing purchasing the right ones. There's a lot of work and you won't be able to get it all done. If you apply for all of the programs it will increase your chances of getting in, so don't just choose Flagstaff. It's pretty much impossible to get in there. Here in Yuma the group of people (around 20 of us) is getting along great. Curriculum is just as challenging, and we don't have to travel long distances for our clinicals. Instead of driving forever or to a different place, we walk across the street to the Yuma Regional Medical Center. It is a fairly large hospital, and state of the art. Hope you get in, it's a wonderful experience!

Thank you :) My only option really is the Tucson campus, as we own our house here etc. I would love to do the accelerated program in Flagstaff, but at this point in my life that won't work. I am happy to hear that you are enjoying it!

I turned in my application today, she said it was competitive so I am hopeful this go round. I feel like my life is in limbo until I get in and get started. This is my path so I will keep applying and making my application better until I am good enough. I hope this time is the charm, I am eager to get started. Letters should go out late October, early November so I will keep you all posted.

I did ask about the way the look at applicants and mentioned the points system listed here. I don't know if that is different for the different campuses (I am in Tucson) but she said that it was no accurate. She did say that the math and science courses are weighted more heavily than the non math and science courses in their GPA calculations. Both of my A&P and Micro were B's, with everything else being A so I hope that doesn't pull me down too much.

Good luck! I know the feeling. We just took our first exam today! This is a really good program with really good people. Hang in there!!!
