NAU Nursing Fall 2016

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

I thought I would start this blog for the NAU spring 2016 nursing program application cycle!

I take the Kaplan exam on March 11th and the application is due during spring break. (March 15th)

Just want to know who else is out there apply this cycle :)

Awesome! I am worried about my science portion. The Tucson adviser told me to apply (I thought I would not be eligible with a 60) so I am still hopeful.

Hopefully she gets those letters out quick next week! [emoji4] I can only imagine how many emails and phone calls they have gotten today lol

Lol yea I emailed her. I felt bad but I just thought an email would ease my mind. I got a 75 on the science but 82 overall. I think you have a lot going for you and she told me once you meet the Kaplan threshold, then they look at the whole person. So I'm hoping that life experience aspect helps. I really liked her and I had good feelings but it's hard to know until it's in writing! I'll definitely be interested to hear how things go for you:)

That would be awesome if all of us got in! It would be cool to keep in touch and see how each campus differs [emoji4]

That would be pretty neat. It's always nice to see others be successful. I hope to know soon. So if anyone hears anything new please keep us up to date

I haven't gotten an email yet either! I had to find this thread to soothe my mind lol. I am applying to the Tucson campus with flagstaff as my second choice! My gpa is 3.5 because I have 2 classes in progress and one in retaking to change a B to an A. /: I got an 86 overall on my Kaplan. I got As in each part but a 70 in science. I'm not expecting to get in since I can reapply next semester with better scores.. But it would be awesome to know what they decided! 🙄

Reading everyone's posts was really helpful, thank you all!

I have 4 classes in progress including bio202 so my prereq gpa was also 3.56. I heard back from the coordinator and I did not get a seat but was placed in the alternate list. I am so sad because although my stats were on the lower end I felt like I was still a strong candidate since I scored decently on science without even having the class completed. I'll remain hopeful that being an alternate works out and if not I know my stats will be much better next time around. It's just so hard to wait another semester. I hope with an 86 you were selected. She is really good about emailing back. Like I said before I really like her!

I don't want to be a bother to the Tucson adviser but I am really anxious! I just sent an email too. Just praying that I made it! If not, I will retake the KAPLAN and apply for the Spring semester. Did she say where on the alternate list you placed?

She said that there is not a ranking for the alternates list so I have no idea how that even works. I can't remember do you mention if you had any in progress classes and what your gpa was?

I have one class in progress, and I believe my GPA ended up a 3.7. From the earlier poster, I should get an extra point for having a previous degree from NAU and an another for a good GPA for my other courses. The thing that worries me most is my KAPLAN science score, I also hadn't taken the class and earned a 60%.

That's awesome. Hopefully your gpa being higher will have gotten you in. Mine should be a 3.7 after this semester and I'm going to retake a class so that should make it even higher. But I really hope you get in.
