NAU Nursing Fall 2016

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

I thought I would start this blog for the NAU spring 2016 nursing program application cycle!

I take the Kaplan exam on March 11th and the application is due during spring break. (March 15th)

Just want to know who else is out there apply this cycle :)

I found out yesterday morning that I did not get into the AIP program or Flagstaff.

I am on the alternate list though, for the AIP.

It's such a bummer... but I'm not going to give up on becoming a nurse! I will reapply next semester :)

I know you mentioned it before but what was your prereq gpa and Kaplan scores? I guess this semester was super competitive. I too will be reapplying as well as applying to other programs. Keep in touch so we know where everyone ends up

I'm sorry :(

I'm glad you aren't giving up! I did and it was the worst mistake of my life..it's taken me 3 years to finally get back on track..

Did you hear what number you are on as an alternate? Does it work like that?

The Tucson coordinator said that they do not rank the alternates so I have no idea how that works. I won't give up. I quit my job as a teacher to pursue nursing in order to give my daughter a better future and life. I have incredible motivation and am driven to succeed for myself and family. As Albert Einstein said he didn't fail just found 10000 ways that didn't work.

I really hope you guys get a spot! Luckily you have all summer to "hope" that someone drops.

I completely understand wanting to make a better life for your daughter, I have 2 kids who drive me to succeed! [emoji4]

I applied with a 3.5 GPA and 84% on Kaplan overall with a 90% in science (: I am going to reapply and possibly do CCC

Sooo I just got my email that I'm an alternate for the Tucson program!! I'm excited of the possibility that I might get in :)

My 60% score on the kaplan science makes me inelligible. I will try again next semester :)

How many alternates are there?

I do not understand how the alternates list works. I am thinking it is the lower gpa that put me on the alternates list, but I don't know how the selection process work. I just hope that some seats open up and tracher17 I'm sorry to hear that:(

I got accepted today at the Tucson campus for fall! I just received a phone call, it was very unexpected because I was an alternate, I was starting to think i'd have to wait! I don't know any information on start dates or orientations yet so if anyone does please let me know!

I hope those of you who got in are having a great first semester! I am reapplying now, I did better on the science portion. I hope that it is enough. I am anxious to make things better for me and my family. My final GPA is a 3.77, 81 overall on my Kaplan with a 70% in science. I did worse in the writing but better in science. I should get the full 2 points for not having anything in progress and 2 points for being a previous NAU student with a great GPA. By my calculations I should have about 12/14 points. If I retake a liberal studies for an A I can get an extra point in the GPA category (would bump it to a 3.83). I hope that won't be necessary but if I don't get in this go round that is what I will do.

For those of you who got in, any suggestions for the first semester? Was your schedule given to you or were you able to make the selection for some classes? For example 225L was available both Tuesday or Wednesday from 6-2. Did you pick your day or was it scheduled for you? Also, for places where online courses are available as well as in class, were you allowed to choose online?

Thank you!
