National University SD Cohort 57 - Jan 2019

Hi all!

My name is Claire and I am going to be applying for my last chance to get into the NU ABSN program in San Diego. I've attempted two times previously and have been denied. First time I believe I missed the cut off by a point or two so I improved my TEAS and essay then applied again and was denied by 3/4 of a point which was pretty devastating but I wasn't going to give up. I went and retook Micro because that was my only C and got an A so now I'm going in with an 89% TEAS, 3.75/5 on the essay and I think a 3.75. I missed the this more recent cohort 56 cutoff but I plan to apply to the next one in July and hopefully raise my TEAS and essay. I'm just so nervous because this is my last chance! I've basically disqualified myself from other institutions because I took the TEAS too many times and some of my prereq's are expired according to other colleges. This is literally my dream and I won't give up! Any one else applying and can share the pain lol :)

Phew that helps with my anxiety as well thank you! I got an 88.7 on my tease so I'm hoping with a gpa of 3.714 I'll get in, but not sure about my essay. I think I did well but grading those things is so subjective! The next 6 weeks is going to suck lol

So I'm kind of confused as to the scoring.. I've read that you are supposed to calculate how many times you've take your pre reqs, and if you've only taken them once then you get 20 points. When I look at other forums I see no mention of this. Help!

Hey all! I am just wondering if anyone has previously or know of someone who received a great score on their essay but didn't fully finish? I only got two sentences finished for my conclusion before I had to stop typing. :(

The pre req GPA is worth 40%, tTEAS 40% and Essay 20%. They do mention you get penalized for retaking pre reqs but honestly don't know how or where. I'm honestly too nervous to ask. When calculating my scores (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) never mentioned an additional set of points allocated for that so I'm unsure. I wish I could help more. Sorry

Well 3.51 gpa 82.7% on the teas, and now it's just a waiting game for the essay results.

You are at 68.1 total points not including the essay. Not sure about point deductions for retakes. If you nail the essay you could pull another 20 points on top of that.

So the calculation and minimum score is an add up of your total points for each TEAS, Core GPA and essay. Let's say you have a 3.82 GPA and score an 89.3% and your essay is a 4/5.

Formula:

3.82 = 38.2 points

89.3*.4 = 35.72 pts

(4/5 * 100) * .2 = 16 pts

Total points = 89.92 points

Average cutoff for admittance is 87.1-87.6 points.

However, my question is has anyone not fully completed the essay and still have gotten a decent grade? I got two sentences into my conclusion and had to submit it as is. I'm just wondering how they grade according to that.. :/

I agree there is a trend, however cohort 52 scores for alternates was over 86 and then came back down in cohort 53.

It has to do with the time of year. Cohorts in the summer months are much more full because, of course, people get out of school and immediately are applying for the next program. That's at least what I was told :-) is really hoping it begins the drop now...either that or is in trouble! :/

For myself, it's all going to come down to the essay; Does anyone know when we might hear how we did?
