National University SD Cohort 57 - Jan 2019

Hi all!

My name is Claire and I am going to be applying for my last chance to get into the NU ABSN program in San Diego. I've attempted two times previously and have been denied. First time I believe I missed the cut off by a point or two so I improved my TEAS and essay then applied again and was denied by 3/4 of a point which was pretty devastating but I wasn't going to give up. I went and retook Micro because that was my only C and got an A so now I'm going in with an 89% TEAS, 3.75/5 on the essay and I think a 3.75. I missed the this more recent cohort 56 cutoff but I plan to apply to the next one in July and hopefully raise my TEAS and essay. I'm just so nervous because this is my last chance! I've basically disqualified myself from other institutions because I took the TEAS too many times and some of my prereq's are expired according to other colleges. This is literally my dream and I won't give up! Any one else applying and can share the pain lol :)

Just sent these to a friend who is applying to the lvn-bsn cohort. I thought I would post them here because this forum was very helpful to me when I was applying. For the essay: have a well thought out thesis ready to go for each of the prompts. You want to be ready to write. Practice 5 paragraph structure. Best of luck!!

That's great! I'm taking mine in 1 1/2 week, I've been studying but I still don't feel prepared enough. What study materials did you use?

Got mine yesterday. I emailed (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) because I was getting a little nervous! My date is August 20.

Hello all, long time lurker, first time poster here. I am taking my essay and TEAS on the 21st at national. I am hoping to raise my score as I took it today at college of the desert and got a 77.3. :/

Wow that's a lot! Usually it dwindles down after the TEAS/Essay date. Past few have been around 150. Too bad they don't take more applicants because I know there's more than 40 amazingly smart and awesome to-be nurses!

Thank you! 3.51 unfortunately. I'm hoping that with a high enough teas and essay that I should be okay. I spoke with someone (not sure who) in the nursing dept. today and she started that the average teas score of those admitted during this previous cycle was a 88... so fingers AND toes are crossed lol.

It definitely depends. You could kill your essay and get in. Some people had 70's for the TEAS but had decent TEAS and essay and got in. Don't give up hope!

Hello Justin! Now you can stress with the rest of us. We have pretty similar scores, I have a 3.92 GPA and an 82% on my TEAS. I also despise this exam, I always feel like I did well and am surprised I only got an 82%. I'm hoping to nail the essay and can't wait to get it over with. I'll be taking it on the 20th with you!
