National University SD Cohort 55 - July 2018

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi all,

I am applying to the BSN program at national this month & wanted to start a feed to see if there's anyone else out there applying/preparing for TEAS, etc!

I scored an 86 on the TEAS and for the essay the prompt was: " What knowledge skills or attitudes do you possess that will allow you to become a professional nurse."

Congrats, that's awesome!! (: Did you take yours on Feb 27th,2018 as well? I will be taking mine in March.

Great job! Glad you got a normal prompt & not one of those curveball questions.

Yes, I took it on the 27th. I was so happy to get that prompt because it was similar to the practice ones I had been doing. :) Now it is time for the worst part...the waiting.

I took mine this morning! I got a normal prompt too that was very similar to what I practiced so that was a relief. I retook my teas just to see if I could get a couple more points & I got the EXACT same score as last time lol.

Elizabeth did tell us we would definitely find out before April 20th so that we can apply again if rejected. She also said it started with 170 applicants & is already down to 146 due to drop outs/no-shows, & will likely keep decreasing as this week continues. Better chances for all of us!

Hi everyone

Just wanted to introduce myself and read up on the specifics for this cohort. I'm an emotional mess so I need to figure out how to get through the next month and a half. Does anyone know what/where we can stalk when the time comes?

I am feeling deflated after today's essay but I'm going to keep hoping. I have an 86 TEAS and not too sure about my GPA but when I calculate it on a basic website calculator it says 3.69. I don't quite understand the quarter unit thing yet and I took most of my pre reqs at Mesa so I'm not sure if that weighs into a different gpa or not. If anyone wants to calculate it for me that would be great! ha. I took Anatomy lecture/lab at Mesa and got an A (4 units), Physiology lab/lecture at Mesa got an A (4 units). Micro at Mesa and got a B 5 units (I'm so bitter about it). Stats at National and got an A (3 semester units???).

I will say I am not a strong writer and I did not utilize the writing lab so now my confidence is minimal. If I did the math correctly that means I need at least a 3.5 on the essay to even have a chance.

gpA 3.69/4 X .4 = 0.369

TEAS 86/100 x .4 = 0.344

My prompt was the one about the program being rigorous with little time for personal activities and what will make me successful in the program.

Email Elizabeth for your gpa points! She will get back to you almost immediately. You will feel more comfortable/confident getting the correct number from her.

Do you know her email?

She is the one that sent you your test date - just reply to that email! That's what I did.

Hi Rebecca!

I took my essay and TEAS yesterday too! I'm sure you did fine, we're both kind of on the same boat, I'm hoping for 3.5 for my essay too. It was definitely a prompt I didn't study for, I got tell be about a difficult interpersonal situation and my scenario was was unrelated to nursing, but I tried to follow the into,3 body and conclusion outline. Hopefully it's enough.

Goodluck! The long wait begins! I'm hoping since there is less than 150 applicants the overall score to get in will be a little lower this time around

H

It's a 3.688

Not 3.69 lol.

Was hoping it would bump the other direction ha!

Does anybody know the timeframe that we should be receiving our acceptance/denials? This is my third attempt applying so I am extremely anxious!!
